Meridian Audio was founded in Cambridge in 1977 by Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd, and the company has been at the forefront of digital audio engineering ever since. From the earliest CD players and digital loudspeakers to MQA — the lossless audio codec that Meridian developed and that is now licensed by streaming services worldwide — the company's contribution to how we listen to recorded music is difficult to overstate.

The Meridian approach is distinctive: digital signal processing is performed inside the loudspeaker itself, not in a separate amplifier. Every DSP loudspeaker in the range contains its own DACs, crossover and amplification, all precisely calibrated to that specific driver and cabinet. The result is a system with shorter, cleaner signal paths, no passive crossover losses, and a level of coherence that a conventional separates system must work much harder to achieve.

The range at Martins Hi-Fi spans the full width of what Meridian offer. The 200 Series streaming and control components — the 210 Streamer, 218 Zone Controller, 251 and 271 — form the foundation of a Meridian whole-home system. The DSP in-wall range, from the DSP320.2 to the DSP750, brings Meridian's active loudspeaker philosophy to discreet architectural installations. At the top of the range, the DSP5200SE, DSP8000 XE and DSP9 are statement floorstanders that represent the full expression of what Meridian's engineers are capable of.
