Meridian DSP320.2 Active In-Wall Speaker

The DSP320.2 is Meridian's compact active in-wall loudspeaker — a square 300mm unit that disappears into a wall or ceiling while delivering the full Meridian DSP loudspeaker experience. This is not a reduced or simplified version of the technology. It carries the same nine DSP processing technologies found in Meridian's floorstanding range, SpeakerLink connectivity, nine proprietary signal processing technologies, and 160 watts of Class-D amplification matched to its drive units. The difference is form factor, not philosophy.

Drive Units and Amplification

Inside the DSP320.2 are two drive units — an 85mm wide-range driver and an oval "racetrack" bass driver — each fed by a dedicated 80-watt Class-D amplifier. The racetrack bass driver format is designed to maximise cone area within the square cabinet geometry, extracting the low-frequency extension that a conventional circular driver of equivalent cabinet size could not achieve. Bass extension reaches 50Hz; peak SPL is 106dB at 1m.

The cabinet depth is 103mm including the rough-in frame — shallow enough for standard wall construction without structural modification. A rough-in frame and grille are included for acoustic consistency and a clean finish.

DSP Technologies

The DSP320.2 implements nine signal processing technologies:

Full Frequency Alignment (FFA) corrects group delay across the frequency range, ensuring all frequencies arrive at the listener's ear simultaneously. Enabled by default.

Bespoke Signal Mapping applies crossover filters designed specifically for these two drive units in this cabinet — not a generic crossover solution.

E3 Bass (Expand, Extend, Enhance) applies three-stage filter processing to extend the low-frequency response beyond what the cabinet volume would ordinarily produce.

Image Elevation psychoacoustically raises the perceived sound image to the centre of a screen — particularly useful in home cinema configurations where the speaker is mounted above or below the display.

Q-Sync minimises jitter through Meridian's FIFO buffering system, preserving timing integrity through the digital path.

True Time — Meridian's apodising filter — eliminates pre-ringing from digital filters for cleaner transients.

True Link provides encrypted high-definition audio transfer over SpeakerLink with minimum clock signal degradation.

Pro-Active Bass and Pro-Active Thermal protect the drive units from over-excursion and thermal stress at high output levels.

Connectivity and Installation

The DSP320.2 connects via Meridian SpeakerLink (RJ45) — the same connection used across the entire Meridian active loudspeaker range. SpeakerLink input and output sockets allow daisy-chain configuration, and the DSP320.2 can power a connected Meridian Distributor 1 without an external power supply.

The channel selector switch offers Left/Centre, Right, and L+R positions. L+R mode allows a single DSP320.2 to reproduce a full stereo mix — useful in corridors, kitchens, or any space where a single speaker needs to carry both channels.

Wall or ceiling mounting is supported. Professional installation is recommended; the DSP320.2 is designed for repeatable, consistent performance across multiple locations in a larger installation.

The DSP320.2 suits any installation where Meridian active performance is required in a discreet format — home cinema surrounds, multi-room audio, ceiling fills in larger listening spaces, or architectural installations where a visible floorstanding speaker is not appropriate. Its timbre match to the DSP520.2 and DSP640.2 makes it a natural choice for systems using those speakers in the primary positions.
