The DSP640.2 is Meridian's flagship active in-wall loudspeaker — 1230mm tall, 100mm deep, and the most capable speaker in the Performance Series in-wall range. Four drive units, four bridged amplifier pairs, 117dB peak SPL, and bass extension to 35Hz place it firmly in the territory of high-performance floorstanding loudspeakers, all from a cabinet that sits flush with the wall. In a dedicated home cinema or serious listening room where visual discretion is non-negotiable, the DSP640.2 is the reference choice.

Drive Units and Amplification
The DSP640.2 houses four drive units: two 140mm long-throw bass drivers and two 85mm wide-range drivers with neodymium magnets. Each driver pair is fed by a bridged pair of Class-D amplifiers capable of 100 watts into 8 ohms — four amplifier channels in total, with each driver individually driven by matched amplification.
Doubling the bass and wide-range driver complement relative to the DSP520.2 delivers the additional output, bass extension, and dynamic headroom that larger rooms demand. Bass reaches 35Hz — the same low-frequency floor as Meridian's DSP5200SE floorstander. Peak SPL is 117dB at 1m.
DSP Technologies
The DSP640.2 is powered by Meridian's CLASS-M DSP engine and implements nine signal processing technologies:
Full Frequency Alignment (FFA) corrects group delay so all frequencies arrive at the listener's ear simultaneously. Enabled by default.
Bespoke Signal Mapping applies crossover filters designed specifically for this four-driver configuration in this cabinet, ensuring all drive units work together coherently.
E3 Bass (Expand, Extend, Enhance) applies three-stage processing to extract the maximum low-frequency performance from the drive units — reaching 35Hz in a 100mm-deep in-wall cabinet is a direct consequence.
Image Elevation psychoacoustically raises the perceived sound image to the centre of a screen. Adjustable via system menus or RS232 for precise calibration to the installation.
HPA (High Powered Array) minimises destructive interference between multiple speakers deployed in array configurations — relevant in larger rooms or commercial spaces where multiple DSP640.2 units operate together.
Q-Sync minimises jitter through Meridian's FIFO buffering, preserving timing integrity.
True Time eliminates pre-ringing from digital filters for cleaner transients and more natural decay.
True Link provides encrypted high-definition audio transfer over SpeakerLink.
Pro-Active Bass and Pro-Active Thermal protect the drive units from mechanical and thermal stress at high output levels.
Connectivity and Installation
The DSP640.2 connects via SpeakerLink (RJ45) with input and output sockets for daisy-chain configuration. An RS232 socket (3.5mm minijack) enables third-party control system integration. An IR window is included.
The channel selector offers Left/Centre, Right, and L+R positions. An IEC mains cable is included. Installation uses a rough-in box (RF600) or mounting bracket (MB600); the grille is paintable to match any décor.
At 1230mm tall and 15kg per speaker, professional installation is recommended. The DSP640.2 is designed for permanent, high-performance architectural installations.

Who Is It For?
The DSP640.2 is for the installer or homeowner who needs the full performance of a high-quality floorstanding loudspeaker in a room where nothing should be visible. At 117dB and 35Hz, it has the output and extension to serve as the primary speaker in a large home cinema or dedicated listening room without a subwoofer.
