Meridian DSP730 Active In-Wall Speaker
The DSP730 is Meridian's Reference Series architectural loudspeaker for small and medium-sized rooms — a three-driver, three-way active in-wall speaker delivering 115dB peak SPL from 38Hz to 40kHz, in an ultra-shallow 102mm-deep cabinet. Positioned alongside the DSP750 at the top of Meridian's Architectural range, the DSP730 brings high-resolution active performance to installations where a visible loudspeaker is not an option.
In HPA (High Powered Array) configuration — three DSP730s deployed together — peak output reaches 122dB at 1m. It integrates naturally with Meridian's DSW600 subwoofer for extended low-frequency performance where required. See the full Meridian range we stock.
Drive Units and Amplification
The DSP730 houses three drive units: a 160mm long-throw bass driver with titanium voice coil, a 100mm mid-range driver with woven polypropylene cone, and an aluminium dome tweeter with custom steel waveguide. Three bridged pairs of Class-D amplifiers — each capable of over 100 watts into 8 ohms — are matched individually to each driver. The titanium voice coil on the bass driver offers superior stiffness-to-weight ratio compared to conventional copper or aluminium, contributing to the taut, controlled bass character that distinguishes the DSP730 from lesser architectural speakers.
Bass extension reaches 38Hz. Horizontal dispersion is 120° across the 20Hz–10kHz range, narrowing to 70° at 18kHz — wide-pattern performance that produces a consistent stereo image over a broad listening area, particularly relevant in rooms where the listening position is not fixed.
DSP Technologies
The DSP730 implements nine Meridian signal processing technologies including Full Frequency Alignment, Bespoke Signal Mapping, E3 Bass, Image Elevation, Q-Sync, True Time, True Link, Pro-Active Bass, Pro-Active Thermal, and HPA.
Image Elevation psychoacoustically raises the perceived sound image to align with screen centre — essential for in-wall installations alongside or below a display.
HPA (High Powered Array) minimises destructive interference between multiple DSP730 units in array configuration, enabling the 122dB peak output when three units are deployed together.
Full Frequency Alignment corrects group delay so all frequencies arrive at the listener simultaneously — the Meridian timing signature in an architectural format.
Connectivity and Installation
The DSP730 connects via SpeakerLink (RJ45) — input and output sockets support daisy-chain configuration. RS232 (3.5mm minijack) provides third-party control system integration. An IR window is included. The channel selector switches between Left/Centre, Right, and L+R positions. Installation uses a rough-in box and frame for precise positioning; the grille is paintable to match any décor. Depth is 102mm — ultra-shallow and compatible with standard wall construction.

Who Is It For?
The DSP730 suits rooms of small to medium size where the full height and output of the DSP750 is not required, but where reference-level active performance is still the priority. Its wide horizontal dispersion makes it well suited to rooms where the listening area is broad. In array configurations, the HPA technology enables it to serve larger spaces without compromise. For those who also want subwoofer integration, it pairs directly with the DSW600.
