In a conventional two-way active stereo system, you need one amplifier channel per driver per speaker — four channels in total. The 4100 provides exactly that in a single unit, taking its signal directly from a Linn DSM over the LINN link connection. All signal processing, crossover filtering, and speaker-specific optimisation happens upstream in the DSM; the 4100's job is purely to amplify.

Four Channels, One Box

The practical advantages of a four-channel unit over four separate mono blocks are real: a single chassis, a single power supply, a single unit of rack space. For a system centred on a stereo pair of two-way active speakers, the 4100 is usually the most straightforward way to provide the amplification. It is also common in home theatre installations where four channels are needed for surround use, always fed from a Linn DSM acting as the system hub.

Each of the four channels is independently buffered, so the load presented by one driver does not directly affect the performance of any other. The power supply is sized to handle the combined demands of four channels simultaneously.

The Linn 530 is a self-contained active speaker that incorporates its own amplification, so no external power amplifier is needed for that product. For other speaker configurations in a Linn Exakt system, the Majik 4100 covers a wide range of requirements efficiently.

Combining Amplifiers in a Linn System

Linn's LINN link architecture allows multiple amplifiers to be connected to a single DSM. The 4100 can be combined with a Majik 2100 or Majik 3100 to create a six-channel active system for three-way speakers, or chained with a Majik 5100 for more complex multi-channel configurations.
