Linn Akurate 4200 Four-Channel Power Amplifier
Four channels of Akurate-grade amplification in a single chassis. The Akurate 4200 is the four-channel power amplifier from Linn's Akurate series — built for those who want the power, headroom, and engineering quality of the Akurate tier without the physical footprint of four separate mono blocks.
At 200 W per channel into 8 Ω, the 4200 has the output and control to drive demanding loudspeaker systems with authority. In a Linn Exakt active system, where each channel is directly coupled to a single drive unit with no passive crossover between the amplifier and the driver, the quality of the amplification is more directly audible than in any passive arrangement. The Akurate 4200's combination of power, power supply design, and output stage quality makes that difference clear.
Like all Linn power amplifiers, the 4200 takes its signal digitally from a Linn DSM over the LINN link connection. All crossover filtering, time alignment, and speaker-specific correction is handled upstream in the DSM; the 4200 contributes nothing to the signal path beyond amplification.
Four Channels for Active Stereo
The Akurate 4200 is the natural choice for a stereo pair of two-way active speakers at the Akurate performance level. Four drivers, four channels, one amplifier. It provides enough channel count for that configuration without requiring multiple units or complex cabling.
For three-way active stereo systems, the 4200 can be combined with an Akurate 2200 or pair of Akurate 3200 mono blocks to reach the required six channels. Linn's LINN link architecture supports multiple amplifiers driven from a single Selekt DSM or Klimax DSM.
Akurate vs Majik
The Majik 4100 provides the same channel count at 100 W per channel. The move to the Akurate 4200 brings more than doubled power output, a more substantial power supply, and higher-grade output components throughout. The sonic difference is most apparent in dynamic range and low-level resolution: the Akurate tier resolves more of the fine detail in complex recordings, with better control under sustained load. For a system built around quality loudspeakers in a medium to large room, the 4200 is the more satisfying long-term choice.

Who Is It For?
The Akurate 4200 is built for serious Linn Exakt active system builders who want Akurate-tier performance across four amplifier channels in a single chassis. It is particularly well suited to two-way active stereo systems and to forming the core of a larger multi-channel active configuration. Partner it with the Akurate 2200 or 3200 where additional channels are needed.
Buying from Martin's Hi-Fi
Martin's Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968, and the Linn range has been part of what we do for years. We are still family-run — Ted Martin's daughter Elizabeth runs the business today — and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
The Akurate 4200 is a significant amplifier, and choosing between it and the Klimax tier is a conversation worth having with a dealer who has heard both at length — which we have.
