Linn Majik 2100 Stereo Power Amplifier

The Majik 2100 is Linn's entry point into the Exakt active amplification range: a clean, capable two-channel power amplifier designed to work within a Linn system, taking its signal directly from a Linn DSM network music player. There is no preamplifier stage, no volume control, no analogue input. The 2100 does one thing — amplify — and it does it with the precision and reliability you expect from a component built to be part of a properly engineered system.

In a passive stereo setup, the Majik 2100 drives both channels of a loudspeaker from a single unit. In an Exakt active system, two channels can be dedicated to specific drive units within a single speaker — bass to one channel, treble to another — removing the passive crossover entirely and giving Linn's DSP complete control over the signal path. The results of that kind of active drive are significant: tighter bass, better stereo separation, and considerably more low-level detail than any passive arrangement can deliver.

Exakt Active Systems

The Majik 2100 is designed for use with Linn's Exakt architecture. In an Exakt system, the DSM network music player handles all digital processing — including crossover filtering, time alignment, and speaker-specific optimisation — before sending separate digital streams to each amplifier channel. The amplifier's job is then simply to convert that signal to the mechanical movement of a drive unit, with nothing in the way.

For a single two-way active speaker, a Majik 2100 provides exactly the right channel count: one channel per drive unit. Build out a stereo pair of two-way active speakers and you will need two Majik 2100s, or a single four-channel unit. The modular nature of the Majik amplifier range makes system building straightforward.

The Linn 530 is a natural partner — a self-contained Exakt active loudspeaker that incorporates its own amplification, so no separate power amplifier is needed. But for those building active systems around other Linn-compatible speakers, the Majik 2100 is the starting point.
