T+A Symphonia Streaming Integrated Amplifier

The Symphonia is T+A's attempt at a genuine one-box system that does not feel like a compromise, and the styling makes no secret of the intention — it is deliberately retro where the rest of the range is austere. Underneath it is thoroughly modern: streaming, conversion, amplification, radio and a phono stage in a chassis 100 mm tall weighing 6.2 kg. See the full T+A range we stock.

What makes it interesting is that T+A have not simply bought in a streaming board and an amplifier module and put a nice case around them. The converter section is the same two-path thinking used further up the range, and the amplification is Class-D chosen on merit rather than to save space.

Amplification

The Symphonia uses PURIFI Eigentakt Class-D output stages fed by T+A's own High-Frequency Sine Power Supply. It produces 250 watts per channel into 4 ohms and 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms to the FTC rating, with a damping factor above 800. That damping figure is the number to note — it is the amplifier's grip on the loudspeaker, and it is why the Symphonia drives real loudspeakers rather than only the easy ones.

A Digital-Analog Separation System using Silicon Labs isolators galvanically separates the digital and analogue sections. In a box this size, with a switching amplifier and a network board a few centimetres from the analogue stages, that separation is doing necessary work.

Conversion

As elsewhere in the range, PCM and DSD get their own converters. PCM runs through a Double-Differential-Converter with 32-bit Sigma-Delta conversion at 705.6 / 768 kSps; DSD goes through the T+A True-1Bit converter as native bitstream. Selectable upsampling algorithms (FIR short, FIR long, Bezier/IIR) sit ahead of a phase-linear third-order Bessel filter switchable at 60 or 120 kHz.

Worth being precise about the DSD limits, because they differ by input: the USB DAC input accepts up to DSD 512, while network streaming covers DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256.

Streaming, Radio and Connections

Streaming runs on T+A's ASA G3 architecture over Wi-Fi, wired LAN or USB. Services covered are Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music HD, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, Audirvana and JPLAY. T+A list Apple AirPlay as under certification, so treat that one as pending rather than confirmed.

Both FM and DAB/DAB+ tuners are built in with RDS — increasingly rare at this level and a genuine reason to choose it. Digital inputs are coaxial and optical S/P-DIF, USB DAC, and one HDMI input with ARC for a television. Analogue inputs are two line-level RCA plus a third with a switchable phono stage. Outputs are a preamplifier RCA out and two subwoofer outputs.

Who Is It For?

The Symphonia is for someone who wants one box and refuses to accept the usual penalty for it. Everything is here — streaming, DAB and FM, a phono input for a turntable, an HDMI ARC input for the television, subwoofer outputs, and enough power for most real loudspeakers. For a sitting room where a rack of separates is not welcome, that combination is hard to assemble any other way.

It also suits a second system for someone who already owns T+A further up the range and knows the house sound. If you want the same thinking in separates, look at Series 200 instead — more boxes, more flexibility, and a different budget.
