ESS ES9018 32-Bit DAC
The DAC at the centre of the Artera Play+ is built around the ESS ES9018 32-bit converter — a device of unrivalled measured performance, capable of resolving the finest low-level detail from any digital source with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 110dB and total harmonic distortion below 0.001% across the full audio bandwidth. Channel separation exceeding 100dB at 1kHz ensures that left and right channels remain entirely discrete, producing a soundstage of genuine width, depth and precision imaging that transforms high-resolution recordings into a truly immersive listening experience. High-Resolution Digital Connectivity
The USB input accepts high-resolution PCM at sampling rates up to 384kHz and native DSD files at DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256 — making the Artera Play+ one of the most capable DACs available at any price, and an ideal partner for a computer audio source or dedicated music server. Two optical TOSlink and two coaxial RCA digital inputs accommodate additional digital sources, while the digital output — available on both optical and coaxial — allows the Artera Play+ to serve as a high-quality transport feeding an external DAC. Two analogue RCA inputs complete the connectivity, enabling the Artera Play+ to function as a fully specified preamplifier for an analogue source such as a phono stage. Both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA preamplifier outputs are provided, with the balanced outputs delivering up to 5Vrms for an incomparable signal-to-noise ratio when connected directly to the Quad Artera Stereo power amplifier.
