Fyne Audio F703SP Floorstanding Speaker
The F703SP is the top of Fyne Audio's F700 Special Production range — a UK-built floorstander that takes the F703 cabinet and replaces its driver, crossover, and plinth with components from the F1 series. The IsoFlare driver is derived from the F1-10, using a 250mm cone with a 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter and a Neodymium magnet system. The crossover uses Claritycap capacitors, Neotech PC-OCC wiring, and gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703 terminals throughout, with full cryogenic treatment. The plinth is machined aluminium to F1 grade specification, with M12 threaded support cones. At £14,999 per pair, it is the closest the F700 range gets to F1 series construction and engineering.
The Special Production designation means more than a driver upgrade. In the F703SP, Fyne Audio have taken the F703's twin-cavity birch ply cabinet — itself a step up from the MDF construction used in smaller F700 models — and built it around a crossover designed using computational modelling and listening tests, wired throughout with Neotech PC-OCC copper, with Claritycap capacitors at every stage and cryogenically treated components. The plinth is an F1 grade machined aluminium platform with M12 threaded support cones that provide a more stable and better-damped interface with the floor than the standard F703 base.
IsoFlare Driver — F1-10 Derived
The F703SP uses a 250mm IsoFlare point-source driver derived from the F1-10 flagship. It combines a 250mm multi-fibre bass/midrange cone with FyneFlute surround and a 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter with a Neodymium magnet system. The 75mm titanium dome is a larger and more capable compression driver than the 25mm magnesium dome used in the F700, F701, and F702 — it handles higher output levels with lower distortion and extends the IsoFlare's point-source coherence further into the upper frequencies.
The dedicated bass driver is a 250mm multi-fibre cone with FyneFlute surround. The two drivers work in a 2.5-way configuration, with the crossover dividing at 250Hz and 850Hz.
BassTrax and Cabinet
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser. The twin-cavity cabinet loading — shared with the standard F703 — gives the bass section additional control below the port frequency, contributing to the 24Hz extension. The cabinet is pressed high-density birch ply with extensive internal bracing: a more rigid and better-damped structure than MDF.
Crossover
The crossover divides at 250Hz and 850Hz. It is a bi-wired passive low-loss design — 2nd order low-pass, 1st order high-pass — with full cryogenic treatment applied to all components. Capacitors are Claritycap; wiring is Neotech PC-OCC copper; terminals are gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703. This level of crossover specification is normally found in speakers at a significantly higher price.

Who Is It For?
The F703SP suits a listener who wants F700 series scale and bass reach with F1 series driver and crossover engineering. The 94dB sensitivity means it works with amplification from 30 watts upward — it does not need a high-powered amplifier, but it will reward one. The 24Hz bass extension and twin-cavity loading handle large rooms without a subwoofer. Natural Walnut is available exclusively on SP models, making it the right choice for those who want a wood veneer finish rather than piano lacquer.
Those considering the F703SP should also hear the standard F703 and the F704 — at this level the differences are meaningful and worth a proper demonstration. For the ultimate SP expression, the F704SP moves to a 300mm IsoFlare with the same SP-grade crossover and plinth. The Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter pairs naturally with the F703SP for those seeking extended HF performance, and the F1-10s represents the next tier of F1 series engineering above the SP range.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F703SP is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — at this price level a demonstration is not optional. Dave and Chris can advise on system matching, room suitability, and how the F703SP compares with the F703, F704, and the F1 series above it.
