Fyne Audio F1-10s

The F1-10s is the evolution of the F1-10 — Fyne Audio's penultimate flagship floorstander, built around a single 250mm IsoFlare point-source driver with FyneFlute surround technology and a 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter. It is a 2-way design in a twin-cavity cabinet with downfiring BassTrax Tractrix porting, reaching 26Hz in-room from a single driver pair. Sensitivity is 94dB, nominal impedance is 8Ω, and the recommended amplifier power range of 20–280W makes it genuinely compatible with single-ended valve amplifiers through to the most powerful solid-state designs. Every F1-10s is hand-built at Fyne Audio's Scottish factory — an engineering statement at the highest level of the F1 series.

Dr Paul Mills and the Fyne Audio development team reimagined the crossover from the original F1-10 and upgraded the 250mm IsoFlare to include FyneFlute surround technology. The result is measurably improved bass extension and a more refined HF presentation across the driver's full bandwidth.

IsoFlare Driver Technology

The IsoFlare driver combines the bass/midrange cone and the high-frequency compression tweeter on a shared axis, so both drivers radiate from exactly the same point in space. This gives the F1-10s true point-source behaviour — consistent time alignment between low and high frequencies across the entire listening area, and off-axis coherence that a conventional multi-driver arrangement cannot replicate. The soundstage remains stable and precisely located wherever you are in the room.

The 250mm IsoFlare in the F1-10s uses a multi-fibre bass/midrange cone with a FyneFlute roll surround, paired with a 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter and neodymium magnet system. FyneFlute geometry reduces cone resonances at the driver termination, tightening the upper bass and lower midrange and improving the handover to the compression tweeter at 750Hz. The 75mm titanium dome extends HF response beyond 26kHz.

BassTrax and Twin-Cavity Loading

The F1-10s uses a downfiring port connected to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into the base. The Tractrix profile manages the expanding wavefront as bass exits the port, reducing turbulence and colouration and smoothing the transition into the room. Twin-cavity loading within the cabinet gives the bass section additional acoustic control at the lowest frequencies — contributing directly to the 26Hz extension and the speaker's ability to reproduce the full dynamic range of music without strain.

High-frequency energy and presence are independently adjustable via precision potentiometer controls on the rear panel — HF energy (750Hz–26kHz) ±3dB and presence (2.5kHz–5.0kHz) ±3dB — allowing the F1-10s to be optimised for different rooms and listening preferences without external equalisation.

Crossover and Connections

The crossover divides at 750Hz — a bi-wired passive low-loss design using 2nd order low-pass and 2nd order high-pass filters with Deep Cryogenic Treatment applied throughout. The connection panel supports bi-wiring.

Who Is It For?

The F1-10s is for the listener who wants a full-range point-source loudspeaker capable of filling a large room without a subwoofer, and who values the coherence that comes from a single driver handling everything above 26Hz. The 94dB sensitivity means it will work with lower-powered valve amplification — a genuinely rare quality at this size and bass extension. Those building a reference system around the F1-10s should consider pairing it with the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter to extend the HF ceiling further still.

Those wishing to step up to the ultimate expression of this engineering should consider the F1-12s, which moves to a 300mm IsoFlare and reaches 24Hz. For those who want the F1 series in a more compact format, the F1-8s offers the same technological foundation in a smaller cabinet. At the top of the Vintage line, the Fyne Audio Vintage Fifteen represents a different but equally considered expression of Fyne's engineering heritage.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F1-10s is available to discuss and audition at our Norwich showroom — call ahead and Dave or Chris will ensure it is set up properly for you. At this level, system matching is everything, and we can advise on amplification, cabling, and room positioning in detail.
