Fyne Audio F701 Standmount Speaker
The F701 is a large-format standmount at the upper end of Fyne Audio's premium F700 range — a UK-built 2-way loudspeaker built around a 200mm IsoFlare point-source driver, a downfiring port with BassTrax Tractrix diffuser, and a low-loss passive crossover with Cryo-Lite treatment. Sensitivity is 91dB and the frequency response extends from 35Hz to 34kHz — deeper bass than most standmounts at any price, achieved through a larger IsoFlare driver and a cabinet tuned to match it. The F700 range draws directly on engineering developed for the F1 flagship series, and every speaker is designed and hand-built at Fyne Audio's Scottish factory. The F701 sits immediately above the F700 standmount in the range, with the 200mm IsoFlare where the F700 uses a 150mm unit.
The F701 uses the same 200mm IsoFlare driver as the F702 floorstander. That is not a detail to overlook: this is a standmount with the bass driver of a floor-standing loudspeaker, and the 35Hz extension reflects it.
IsoFlare Driver Technology
The IsoFlare driver combines the bass/midrange cone and the high-frequency compression tweeter on a shared axis — the tweeter fires from the centre of the bass/midrange cone — so both drivers radiate from the same point in space. This point-source behaviour gives consistent time alignment between bass, mid, and treble across the listening area, and off-axis performance is substantially better than a conventional two-driver arrangement. Imaging that stays precise and a soundstage that holds its shape away from the sweet spot are the direct results.
In the F701, the IsoFlare driver uses a 200mm multi-fibre cone with a FyneFlute roll surround. FyneFlute's geometry reduces cone resonances at the driver termination, which improves clarity through the upper bass and lower midrange. The tweeter is a 25mm magnesium dome compression driver with a neodymium magnet system. The larger 200mm cone moves more air than the 150mm unit in the F700, which accounts for the additional bass reach and the higher sensitivity figure of 91dB.
BassTrax and Port System
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into the speaker's base. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expanding wavefront as bass energy leaves the port, reducing reflections and smoothing the port-to-room transition. The practical benefit is a standmount that is less sensitive to floor-boundary effects than a rear-ported design — important at this size, where bass management is more demanding than with a smaller driver. Good stands are essential; the F701 rewards a rigid, mass-loadable stand.
Crossover and Connections
The crossover divides at 1.7kHz — 2nd order low-pass on the bass/midrange, 1st order high-pass on the tweeter. It is a bi-wired passive low-loss design with Cryo-Lite treatment applied to the crossover components. The connection panel includes a fifth terminal to earth the driver chassis, eliminating RF interference conducted through the amplifier or cables.

Who Is It For?
The F701 suits a listener who wants the bass reach of a floorstander from a standmount — 35Hz is well below what most two-way speakers of this size achieve, and the 200mm IsoFlare driver gives it the dynamic scale to match. At 91dB sensitivity with an 8Ω load it is easy to drive, and it accepts up to 180W for those with more powerful amplification. It is a speaker that rewards good stands — stand rigidity matters more here than with a conventional standmount, and a well-chosen partner stand will make a noticeable difference to bass definition.
Those considering a move to a floorstander should compare the F701 directly against the F702 — the F702 uses the same 200mm IsoFlare driver in a twin-cavity floor-standing cabinet, extending to 30Hz. For the Special Production upgrade of this model, see the F701SP, which adds F1-8 derived drivers, premium crossover components, and Deep Cryogenic Treatment. Those curious about extending high-frequency performance should consider the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter, and the F1-5 is the natural comparison for those wondering what the step into the F1 series adds.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F701 is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you. Dave and Chris can advise on stand pairing, room suitability, and whether the F701 is the right choice or whether the step to the F702 floorstander makes more sense for your system.
