Fyne Audio F702 Floorstanding Speaker
The F702 is the entry-level floorstander in Fyne Audio's premium F700 series — a UK-built 2.5-way loudspeaker centred on a 200mm IsoFlare point-source driver, a dedicated 200mm bass driver, and a downfiring port with BassTrax Tractrix diffuser and twin-cavity loading. It sits above the F701 standmount and below the F703, and delivers genuine deep bass — 30Hz in-room — in a cabinet that works across a wide range of listening rooms. Sensitivity is 92dB, nominal impedance is 8Ω, and the recommended amplifier power range of 30–200W RMS makes it compatible with everything from modest integrated amplifiers to powerful separates. The F700 series draws directly on engineering from Fyne's F1 flagship range, and every speaker is designed and hand-built at Fyne Audio's Scottish factory.
IsoFlare Driver Technology
The IsoFlare driver is the defining engineering decision in every Fyne Audio loudspeaker. The bass/midrange cone and the high-frequency compression tweeter share a common axis — the tweeter fires from the centre of the bass/midrange cone — so both drivers radiate from the same point in space. This point-source behaviour delivers consistent time alignment across the listening area and substantially better off-axis coherence than a conventional two-driver arrangement where the tweeter sits above a separate bass/midrange unit. Imaging locks in place whether you are sitting exactly on-axis or moving around the room.
In the F702, the IsoFlare uses a 200mm multi-fibre cone with a FyneFlute roll surround, paired with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter and neodymium magnet system. The FyneFlute surround geometry reduces cone resonances at the driver termination, improving clarity through the upper bass and lower midrange. Below the IsoFlare, a dedicated 200mm bass driver — the same multi-fibre cone construction and FyneFlute surround — handles the lowest frequencies in the 2.5-way configuration.
BassTrax and Twin-Cavity Loading
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into the speaker's base. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expanding wavefront as bass energy exits the port, reducing reflections back into the cabinet and smoothing the transition into the room. The practical result is a speaker that is less sensitive to floor-boundary effects and easier to place than a conventional rear-ported design — a meaningful advantage in rooms where positioning flexibility is limited.
The twin-cavity loading is the key structural difference between the F702 and the F701 standmount. The cabinet's internal bass section is divided to give the bass drivers additional acoustic control at the lowest frequencies — which is how the F702 achieves 30Hz extension from the same 200mm driver pair that reaches 35Hz in the smaller standmount cabinet. That difference is immediately audible: the F702 fills a room in a way the F701, however capable, cannot.
Crossover and Connections
The crossover divides at 250Hz and 1.7kHz — a 2.5-way passive low-loss design with Cryo-Lite treatment applied to the crossover components. The connection panel includes a fifth terminal to earth the driver chassis, eliminating RF interference conducted through the amplifier or cables. Bi-wiring is supported.

Who Is It For?
The F702 suits a listener stepping up from a standmount who wants genuine floorstanding bass without the larger cabinet footprint of the F703 or F704. The 30Hz extension, twin-cavity loading, and 92dB sensitivity put it well above what a standmount can achieve at this price, while a 30W minimum amplifier requirement keeps it compatible with a wide range of systems. Those already familiar with the F701 will hear the difference in the low bass register immediately.
For the Special Production upgrade, the F702SP adds F1-8 derived drivers, premium crossover components, and Deep Cryogenic Treatment. The next step up is the F703, which introduces a 250mm IsoFlare driver. Those curious about the top of the F1 range can explore the F1-8, and the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter is worth considering for any F700 series system where extended high-frequency performance is a priority.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F702 is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you. Dave and Chris can advise on system matching, room suitability, and how the F702 compares with the rest of the F700 range.
