Fyne Audio F700 Standmount Speaker

The F700 is the entry point into Fyne Audio's premium F700 range — a UK-built 2-way standmount built around a 150mm IsoFlare point-source driver, a downfiring port with BassTrax Tractrix diffuser, and a low-loss passive crossover with Cryo-Lite treatment. Sensitivity is 89dB, the frequency response extends from 40Hz to 34kHz, and the recommended amplifier power range of 30–150W RMS gives it genuine flexibility across a wide range of partnering electronics. The F700 range sits above the F500 SP series and draws directly on engineering developed for the F1 flagship. The F700 standmount is the smallest speaker in that range — but built to the same standard of construction, crossover treatment, and finish quality as every speaker above it.

IsoFlare Driver Technology

The IsoFlare driver is the defining engineering decision in every Fyne Audio loudspeaker. Bass/midrange cone and high-frequency compression tweeter share a common axis — the tweeter fires from the centre of the bass/midrange driver — so both drivers radiate sound from the same point in space. Consistent time alignment across the listening area and substantially better off-axis coherence than a conventional arrangement follow directly from this point-source geometry. For a standmount, the practical result is a speaker that sounds coherent well away from the sweet spot and delivers precise imaging that larger multi-driver designs often struggle to match.

In the F700, the IsoFlare uses a 150mm multi-fibre cone with a FyneFlute roll surround. FyneFlute's geometry reduces cone resonances at the driver termination, improving clarity through the upper bass and lower midrange. The tweeter is a 25mm magnesium dome compression driver with a neodymium magnet system.

BassTrax and Port System

The F700 uses a downfiring port that connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into the speaker's base. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expanding wavefront as bass energy exits the port, reducing reflections back into the cabinet and smoothing the transition into the room. The practical advantage is a standmount that is less sensitive to floor-boundary effects and easier to place than a conventional rear-ported design — reaching 40Hz from a cabinet of this size is a direct consequence of this loading approach.

Crossover and Connections

The crossover divides at 1.7kHz — 2nd order low-pass on the bass/midrange, 1st order high-pass on the tweeter. It is a bi-wired passive low-loss design with Cryo-Lite treatment applied to the crossover components. The connection panel includes a fifth terminal to earth the driver chassis, eliminating RF interference conducted through the amplifier or cables.

Who Is It For?

The F700 standmount suits a listener who wants the full F700 range engineering in a compact cabinet — a smaller room, a dedicated listening space with limited floor area, or a system where a floorstander is simply impractical. The 89dB sensitivity and 8Ω impedance make it straightforward to drive with a broad range of amplifiers, and BassTrax eases placement relative to most standmounts at this size. Those wanting more driver area in the same standmount format should consider the F701, which uses a 200mm IsoFlare and reaches to 35Hz.

For the Special Production upgrade, the F701SP adds F1-series derived drivers and Deep Cryogenic Treatment. For those who want the F1 series sound philosophy in any form, the F1-5 is the entry point into that range. Those looking to add extended high-frequency performance to any F700 system should also consider the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter, and the F5S offers an alternative standmount option at a lower price point for those building a system with budget in mind.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F700 is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you. Dave and Chris can advise on stand matching, system pairing, and whether the F700 standmount or one of the F700 floorstanders is the right fit for your room.
