Fyne Audio F502S Floorstanding Speakers
The Fyne Audio F502S is the flagship of the S Series — and the point at which Fyne Audio's IsoFlare architecture steps up to a 200mm driver format, bringing with it a bass extension, dynamic headroom, and radiating area that no 150mm driver, however well engineered, can fully replicate. A 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker built around a 200mm IsoFlare point-source driver with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter, a dedicated 200mm bass driver, and a downfiring BassTrax Tractrix port, the F502S is a speaker designed for rooms where a full-size floorstander will be genuinely at home — and for listeners who want the most capable expression of the S Series before the step into the SP range. Available in Black Oak, Natural Walnut, and Piano Gloss Black, it is the S Series at its fullest development.
Why the 200mm Driver Changes Everything
The step from F501S to F502S is not a matter of cabinet size alone. The 200mm IsoFlare driver is a fundamentally different proposition from the 150mm unit in the F500S and F501S — greater cone area, greater moving mass, a correspondingly wider operating range below the crossover frequency, and a bass extension that reaches 30Hz. The 91dB sensitivity figure is 1dB above the F501S, reflecting the increased radiating area of the larger cone. In a medium to large room, the difference is not subtle: the F502S pressurises space in a way that the 150mm driver cannot, and the dynamic headroom it offers — recommended amplifier power runs to 180W — is a direct consequence of the larger driver's ability to move more air without strain.
The crossover hands the IsoFlare unit off to the dedicated 200mm bass driver at 250Hz, and the bass driver takes responsibility for everything below that point. This 2.5-way arrangement allows the IsoFlare unit to operate across its most capable frequency range — from 250Hz through the midrange and treble — while the bass driver handles the lowest octaves with the cabinet volume and port tuning matched precisely to its characteristics.
IsoFlare Point-Source Driver Technology
The IsoFlare driver combines the 200mm multi-fibre cone with FyneFlute roll surround and a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter on a shared axis — the tweeter firing from the centre of the cone so that both drivers radiate sound from precisely the same point in space. This point-source geometry delivers consistent time alignment and isotropic dispersion across the listening area — off-axis coherence that a conventional separated-driver arrangement cannot replicate, regardless of price. The FyneFlute surround enhances transient response and reduces mis-termination effects at the cone surround junction — a specific engineering improvement that affects how accurately fast transients in music are reproduced. The magnesium dome is stiffer and lighter than the titanium used in the E Series, reducing resonance in the critical presence band and contributing directly to the F502S's resolving, detailed midrange character.
BassTrax and the Downfiring Port System
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser integrated into the plinth. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expansion angle as bass energy exits the port, reducing reflections and smoothing the bass-to-room transition. In a speaker of this size and bass extension, the downfiring port arrangement is a practical advantage — bass exits through the base rather than the rear panel, making the F502S substantially less sensitive to rear-wall boundary positioning than a conventional rear-ported floorstander of comparable reach. In a living room where ideal acoustic placement is rarely achievable, that matters.
Presence Control
A rear-facing presence switch provides ±3dB adjustment between 2.5kHz and 5.0kHz. In a speaker with 91dB sensitivity in a larger room, the ability to trim the presence region without external equalisation is a genuinely useful practical tool — particularly in rooms where the speaker is closer to reflective surfaces than is ideal. The adjustment shifts the tonal balance without altering the fundamental character of the IsoFlare driver.
Cabinet Construction
The cabinet is high-rigidity MDF with extensive internal bracing. The three finish options — Black Oak and Natural Walnut real wood veneers, and Piano Gloss Black — match the F500S and F501S exactly, allowing a fully consistent system when the F502S is used alongside the Fyne Audio F500S LCR centre channel in a cinema configuration.

Who Is It For?
The F502S suits a listener with a medium to large room who wants the IsoFlare point-source experience in its most capable S Series expression — 200mm driver, 30Hz bass extension, 91dB sensitivity — without the price commitment of the SP range. At 91dB sensitivity and 8Ω nominal impedance it is not a difficult load for most integrated amplifiers, but it will reward a quality amplifier with the headroom to let it breathe. A minimum of 50 watts is advisable for comfortable listening at moderate levels in a larger room.
Those ready to step into the SP range should compare the F502S directly with the Fyne Audio F704SP — the SP Series flagship floorstander — and consider whether the engineering differences at that level justify the step. Those building a cinema system around the F502S should look at the Fyne Audio F500S LCR as a matched centre channel. The Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter is a natural complement to any F502S system for those seeking extended high-frequency performance, and the Fyne Audio F5S is worth auditioning for those who want to compare the S Series standmount format at a similar level.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F502S is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you.
When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on amplifier pairing, system matching, and whether the F502S or one of the SP range floorstanders is the right choice for your room.
