Fyne Audio F501E Floorstanding Speaker
The Fyne Audio F501E is the entry point into IsoFlare technology in a full-size floorstanding enclosure — a 2.5-way loudspeaker that brings the point-source driver architecture defining Fyne Audio's most ambitious designs to a price point where genuine high-performance listening becomes accessible without compromise on the fundamentals. At £999.98 per pair in Black Ash vinyl, the F501E does not pretend to be something it is not. What it offers instead is the IsoFlare driver — the same core technology that drives the SP series — in a cabinet and crossover specification honestly calibrated to its price. That is a more compelling proposition than a speaker that inflates its credentials with finishes and features it cannot back up with engineering substance.
IsoFlare Point-Source Driver Technology
The IsoFlare driver is the central engineering decision in every Fyne Audio loudspeaker, and its presence in the F501E is what separates this speaker from every conventional floorstander at a similar price. A 150mm multi-fibre cone bass/midrange driver with a 25mm titanium dome compression tweeter mounted at its centre — both radiating from precisely the same point in space — delivers the isotropic, time-aligned dispersion that defines the IsoFlare concept. There are no phase errors introduced by physically separated drivers, no off-axis coloration from a tweeter mounted above the bass/midrange unit, and no listening position where the sound coherence deteriorates. The titanium dome is the material distinction from the magnesium dome used in the SP series — a meaningful difference, but not one that undermines the F501E's fundamental point-source integrity.
Below the IsoFlare unit sits a dedicated 150mm multi-fibre bass driver, crossing over at 250Hz and allowing the IsoFlare driver to operate across a more focused frequency band — a 2.5-way arrangement that extends the bass reach of a single-driver design without the complexity of a three-way crossover.
BassTrax Tractrix Port System
The F501E loads its downfiring port through a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser integrated into the base. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expansion angle as bass energy exits the port, reducing reflections and smoothing the transition between port output and room. The practical result is a speaker that is significantly less sensitive to floor-boundary effects than a conventional rear-ported floorstander — an important advantage in living rooms where ideal placement is rarely achievable. Bass extension reaches 36Hz from a cabinet of this size and price, a direct consequence of this loading approach.
How the F501E Differs from the SP Series
The F501E and the F501SP share the IsoFlare concept and the same cabinet format, but the differences are real and worth understanding. The SP uses a magnesium dome compression tweeter where the F501E uses titanium. The SP is hand-built to a higher specification throughout — upgraded crossover components, premium-grade wiring, and finishes in Piano Gloss and Natural Walnut that the F501E does not offer. The F501E is finished in Black Ash vinyl only. These distinctions are reflected honestly in the price. The F501E is the right product for a buyer who wants IsoFlare in a full-size floorstander at a realistic price — not for a buyer who wants the SP experience at E Series money.
Cinema Use
The F501E pairs naturally with the Fyne Audio F502E LCR centre channel speaker, which uses a larger 200mm IsoFlare driver and shares the same Black Ash vinyl finish. Running matched IsoFlare drivers across the front three channels gives consistent timbre from left to centre to right — an advantage that no mix-and-match arrangement of conventional drivers can replicate.

Who Is It For?
The F501E suits a buyer who wants to understand what IsoFlare technology does in a full-size floorstander without committing to the SP price point. The 90dB sensitivity and 8Ω impedance make it an easy load for most amplifiers — 30 watts is a realistic minimum, and the speaker will reward better amplification as a system develops. The BassTrax port system keeps placement relatively forgiving for a speaker of this size.
It works equally well as the front speaker in a budget-conscious home cinema system, particularly paired with the Fyne Audio F502E LCR for the centre channel. Those ready to step further into the Fyne Audio range should consider the Fyne Audio F704SP for the SP flagship experience, or the Fyne Audio F5S for a more capable entry into the wider range. The Fyne Audio Vintage Five is worth considering for buyers drawn to a more characterful heritage aesthetic at a similar price point.
