T+A PS 3100 HV Power Supply
The PS 3100 HV is an external high-voltage power supply for T+A's HV amplifiers. Its purpose is division of labour: the external supply feeds the output stages, which leaves the amplifier's internal supply to concentrate solely on the input and voltage amplification stages. Those two jobs make very different demands on a power supply, and separating them is the last significant gain available once the amplifier itself is as good as it is going to get. See the full T+A range we stock.
T+A describe the effect as stabilising an already enormous power delivery. In practice it is heard as control rather than volume — the amplifier holding its composure on demanding material where it previously tightened up.
Compatibility
The PS 3100 HV is specified for the A 3100 HV, the A 3000 HV and the PA 3100 HV.
One limitation is worth knowing before you order, because it is a design constraint rather than a setting: the PS 3100 HV cannot be used in High Current Mode. If you run an A 3100 HV in its Class A configuration, the external supply is of no use to you in that mode. Buyers who intend to live in High Current Mode should spend the money elsewhere in the system.

T+A do not publish dimensions, weight or electrical figures for this unit. We would rather leave the table short than fill it with numbers we cannot stand behind — ring us and we will get confirmed figures from the distributor.
Who Is It For?
This is a late-stage upgrade, not a starting point. It makes sense for an owner who already runs an HV power amplifier in High Power Mode into demanding loudspeakers and has taken the rest of the system as far as it goes. If you are still choosing amplification, put the money into the amplifier first.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
An external supply of this kind is difficult to judge from a specification sheet and easy to judge by ear on your own amplifier. Talk to us about how it applies to your system before ordering — including whether the mode you actually listen in can use it at all.
When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim at info@martinshifi.co.uk, call 01603 627010, or WhatsApp on 07554 687137. You can read more about how we work on our Why Martins page. We are at 85–91 Ber Street, Norwich, NR1 3EY.
