Solidsteel HY/C

The HY/C is a single shelf from Solidsteel's HY Series, designed specifically for large-footprint components such as amplifiers and subwoofers. At 500mm wide and 600mm deep, it gives big, heavy equipment the space and support it needs, finished in matt black with stainless steel Hyperspike feet.

The HY Series

Solidsteel describe the HY Series as "Functional Beauty" — a balance between practical engineering and considered design. The four-pillar construction is a natural evolution of the long-running Hyperspike Junior (HJ Series), built from the same stainless steel frame parts that have been used for decades, now combined with MDF shelves finished in flat black. The MDF used meets European and US regulations on harmful emissions (CARB 2 compliant). The rear of the rack is completely open, keeping cable management clean and unobstructed.

Hyperspike Vibration Control

The stainless steel frame incorporates Solidsteel's adjustable Hyperspike spikes at the base, allowing precise levelling on any floor surface. Inner spikes within the hardware frame parts increase dampening of vibrations, targeting the resonant frequencies that audio components can introduce into a listening room. Turntables, amplifiers, and speakers all generate and react to vibration — the HY/C is engineered to absorb rather than transmit those frequencies, with no deliberate effect on the audio signal itself. Solidsteel refer to this as a "no sound coloration" approach.

Power Amplifier Use

If you are running mono or stereo power amplifier blocks, the HY/C gives them a dedicated, properly supported platform. Solidsteel recommend checking that the feet of your components sit fully within the shelf surface. Beyond support, elevating a power amplifier improves airflow and heat dissipation — a practical benefit as well as an acoustic one.
