Solidsteel HF4 Audio Rack
The Solidsteel HF4 is a four-shelf equipment rack from the Italian manufacturer's Hyperspike Series — the flagship line in the Solidsteel range. Where the S5 and SS Series bring Solidsteel's engineering principles to a broader audience, the HF4 represents the full expression of that philosophy: a rack designed from first principles to eliminate vibration from the signal path, built to a standard that assumes your system is worth protecting properly. If you have invested seriously in your source components, amplification, and cabling, the surface they sit on matters more than most people expect.
Hyperspike Vibration Free System
The HF4 is built around Solidsteel's Hyperspike Vibration Free System — the proprietary vibration management architecture that defines this series. The four-pillar design is geometrically positioned to give maximum structural support while minimising physical contact with the surrounding environment. This is not incidental: the geometry is part of how the system works.
The rack stems are solid steel rods, polished to a smooth, shimmering finish by a precision manufacturing process. The frames include a central segment of variable length, which gives the HF4 its modular character and allows it to accommodate components of different heights without compromise. Connecting the structural elements are rubber O-rings — functioning similarly to piston rings — which improve the mechanical fit between components while reducing the transmission of vibrational energy through the structure.
Securing screws, insulating spikes, and decoupling pads are all machined from solid steel. The spikes are adjustable and lock firmly with a clamping screw, ensuring the rack sits level and stable on any floor surface. This level of mechanical precision throughout the assembly is what distinguishes the HF4 from racks that address vibration only at the shelf level.
Shelves
The HF4's shelves are the largest produced across the Solidsteel vertical rack range. Each shelf is rated to a tested load capacity of 80 kg — sufficient for the heaviest turntables, power amplifiers, and record players in current production. The rack is available in flat black, glossy black, and glossy white finishes, making it equally suited to a dedicated listening room and a living space where aesthetics are taken seriously.

Who Is It For?
The HF4 is for the serious listener who has built a system worth supporting properly. Four shelves handles the most common full system configurations — turntable, phono stage, amplifier, and streamer or CD transport — with capacity to spare. At 80 kg per shelf, no component in current production will trouble it.
It suits both dedicated listening rooms and living spaces where the rack needs to look as considered as the system it holds. If you are running separates at this level and your equipment is still sitting on a general-purpose shelf or a lesser rack, the HF4 will be one of the more consequential changes you make to the system.
For those considering how the HF4 sits within the wider Solidsteel range, the Solidsteel SS6 and Solidsteel SS5 offer speaker stand options from the same manufacturer. If your system runs to a dedicated turntable platform, the Solidsteel WS Series is a natural companion. For a more accessible entry into the Solidsteel equipment rack range, the Solidsteel S5-3 is worth considering.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
We carry the full Solidsteel range in our Norwich showroom and can show you how proper equipment support affects what you hear from your system. Dave and Chris look after hi-fi at Martins and can advise on which Solidsteel model suits your setup, your components, and your room. If you are building or upgrading a serious system, it is worth visiting us before committing.
