The Rega Nd7 is the flagship moving magnet cartridge in Rega's remarkable Nd range — and for many vinyl enthusiasts, it may well be the last moving magnet cartridge they ever need. Developed over ten years alongside the rest of the Nd family, the Nd7 takes the same world-first Neodymium N55 magnet technology and pairs it with Rega's most advanced stylus profile: the precision fine line nude diamond — the very same profile used on Rega's highly acclaimed moving coil cartridges, the Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2.

That stylus profile is what sets the Nd7 apart. A fine line diamond has an exceptionally small contact area — a minor radius of just 3 microns as viewed from the top, and 30 microns in the vertical — meaning it sits deeper and more precisely within the groove than a conventional elliptical stylus. The result is an ability to respond immediately to the finest groove modulations, retrieving levels of detail that approach moving coil territory whilst retaining all the convenience and high output of a moving magnet design. Tracking is more assured, high-frequency extension is more natural, and the overall character of the music comes through with exceptional clarity and composure.

Beneath the stylus, the Nd7 shares the same core architecture as its siblings in the Nd range. The all-new generator geometry delivers perfect symmetry for highly accurate channel balance, whilst the optimised pole gap reduces crosstalk and improves linearity across the frequency range. The miniaturised parallel coils, wound in-house using 38-micron wire with 1,275 turns, produce a low inductance, low impedance generator that gives a vastly improved high-frequency response — detailed, extended, and beautifully controlled. The complete assembly is housed in the same lightweight glass-filled PPS body inspired by Rega's MC range, keeping tonearm bearing loads low and stylus movement completely unimpeded.

The Nd7 is available as a factory-fitted option on the Rega Planar 6 and Rega Planar 8 at a discounted package rate — pairings that make excellent sense, as both turntables are more than capable of revealing everything the Nd7 has to offer.
