Katalyst is not a single component modification to an existing DAC circuit. It is a fundamental redesign of the conversion architecture: a dedicated analogue reference voltage supply feeds only the DAC, isolated from the digital circuitry that would otherwise contaminate it; a dedicated master clock drives only the DAC, with the lowest possible phase noise and without interference from processing elsewhere in the component; and the analogue output stage operates from a dedicated supply, isolated from both digital and DAC sections. Three independent, dedicated supply domains — each isolated from the others — replace the shared supply architecture of earlier DAC designs. What reaches the analogue output stage is a conversion whose quality is no longer limited by the electromagnetic environment that shared-supply architecture creates.

Space Optimisation characterises all of these variables from data entered in the Linn app and applies a correction that removes their contribution from the signal as completely as current digital processing allows. Exakt — The Digital Active Platform

The Selekt DSM Hub supports Linn's Exakt platform — the system architecture in which the signal remains in the digital domain until the point of conversion inside the loudspeaker itself, with loudspeaker-specific crossover and driver timing correction applied in the digital domain before conversion. Exakt eliminates the passive crossover and replaces it with a mathematically precise digital filter operating at the full resolution of the signal. Combined with Space Optimisation, Exakt represents the complete Linn active system solution — every variable in the signal chain from DSM to driver under digital control.
