Linn Akurate 2200 Stereo Power Amplifier
The Akurate 2200 is Linn's two-channel power amplifier from the Akurate tier — a significant step up from the Majik 2100 in power output, power supply design, and sonic authority. Where the Majik amplifiers are built for capable, compact Exakt active systems, the Akurate amplifiers are built for those who want more headroom, more drive, and better performance under demanding conditions.
At 200 W per channel into 8 Ω, the 2200 has considerably more in reserve than the Majik equivalents. That matters in active systems. When the amplifier is dedicated to a single drive unit, it is not sharing headroom between drivers — but a well-designed power supply and output stage still make an audible difference to dynamics and control at all but the lowest listening levels. The 2200 grips and controls a driver with more authority than the 2100, particularly in the bass register.
Like all Linn power amplifiers, the 2200 receives its signal digitally from a Linn DSM over the LINN link connection. There is no analogue input, no preamplifier stage. The signal path between DSM and driver is as direct as it is possible to make it.
Why Akurate Over Majik?
The distinction between the Majik and Akurate amplifier tiers is not merely about power. The Akurate range uses a more substantial power supply, higher-quality output components, and a design philosophy that prioritises maximum dynamic headroom and minimal colouration. In an Exakt active system, where the amplifier is directly driving a raw drive unit with no crossover or impedance correction between them, the quality of the amplification has a more direct effect on the sound than in a conventional passive arrangement.
For serious active systems — whether built around high-quality standmount or floorstanding speakers, or as part of a Linn Klimax System Hub-centred system — the Akurate 2200 offers noticeably better resolution and dynamic control than the Majik tier. The difference is most apparent at moderate to low volumes, where the Akurate's superior low-level linearity preserves the fine detail and timing that give recorded music its character.

Who Is It For?
The Akurate 2200 is the right amplifier for anyone building a high-quality Linn Exakt active system who wants demonstrably better performance than the Majik tier and is not yet committed to the Klimax level of investment. It is equally suited to a dedicated stereo active system and to providing specific channel pairs in a larger multi-channel active configuration. Pair it with the Linn 360 Active Loudspeaker for a fully Akurate-tier active system.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
The step from Majik to Akurate amplification is one of the most rewarding upgrades in a Linn Exakt system, and we can help you plan when and how to make it. Speak to Dave or Chris in our Norwich showroom — both know the Linn active range inside out and can help you build the right system for your room and your budget.
