Linn Akurate 2200 Stereo Power Amplifier
The Akurate 2200 is Linn's two-channel power amplifier at Akurate tier — 200 W per channel into 8 Ω from a chassis built to a standard that the Majik range, for all its capability, cannot match. In a Linn Exakt active system, where the amplifier drives a single drive unit directly with no passive crossover between output stage and driver, the quality of the amplification has a more immediate and complete bearing on the sound than in any conventional passive arrangement. The Akurate 2200 is the amplifier for those who have heard what the Majik tier delivers and want demonstrably more — more authority, more dynamic precision, more resolution of the low-level detail that gives recorded music its character and conviction.
The distinction between the Majik and Akurate tiers is not simply a matter of power. At 200 W per channel, the 2200 has considerably more headroom than the Majik 2100 — and that headroom matters in an active system, even one operating at moderate listening levels. But the more significant difference lies in the power supply design, the quality of the output stage components, and the engineering philosophy that underpins the Akurate range. The Akurate power supply is more substantial, more capable under sustained dynamic load, and less likely to introduce the subtle compression that an underpowered supply produces at moments of peak programme demand. The result is an amplifier that maintains its composure and its resolution where the Majik tier begins to work harder.
Akurate Design Philosophy
Linn's approach to power amplifier design at Akurate level reflects a clear hierarchy of priorities: maximum dynamic headroom, minimum colouration, and a power supply designed not for typical conditions but for worst-case programme demands. In an Exakt active system, those demands are unambiguous — the amplifier is not sharing its output stage between a bass driver and a tweeter; it is dedicating both channels to specific drive units, at specific frequency ranges, under conditions defined by the upstream DSM. What the amplifier contributes to that process — or fails to contribute — is audible without the masking effect of a passive crossover to soften the evidence.
The Akurate 2200 grips and controls a driver with more authority than the Majik 2100, particularly in the bass register where current demand is greatest. The improvement is most apparent at moderate to low listening levels, where the Akurate's superior low-level linearity preserves the fine detail and timing that distinguish a great recording from a merely competent one. This is where the Akurate tier earns its place in a serious system — not in the moments of peak volume, but in the quieter passages where low-level resolution and dynamic gradation matter most.
System Integration
The Akurate 2200 receives its signal digitally from a Linn DSM over the Linn Link connection — a Linn Selekt DSM Edition Hub, a Linn Klimax DSM, or a Linn Klimax System Hub. There is no analogue input and no preamplifier stage. The signal path between DSM and drive unit is as direct as engineering currently permits.
The 2200 combines freely with Linn Akurate 4200 four-channel units and Linn Akurate 3200 mono blocks to provide exactly the channel count a given system requires. For a two-way active stereo system, the 2200 provides two of the four required channels — paired with a second 2200 or an Akurate 4200. For those building around the Linn 360 Active Loudspeaker, the 360's integrated amplification removes the need for separate power amplifiers entirely — the 2200 is the natural choice for active systems built around other Linn-compatible loudspeakers requiring external Akurate-grade amplification.

Who Is It For?
The Akurate 2200 is for the serious Linn Exakt active system builder who wants a demonstrable and lasting step beyond the Majik tier without committing to the full Klimax investment. It is equally at home as the sole amplifier in a dedicated stereo active system and as one component in a larger multi-channel Akurate configuration. The step from Majik to Akurate amplification is one of the most consistently rewarding upgrades in the Linn Exakt range — one that repays itself in every listening session, at every volume level, with every kind of programme material. For those building or expanding an Akurate-tier active system, the 2200 is the natural and correct starting point.
