Innuos STREAM1 Music Streamer

The Innuos STREAM1 is a compact music server and streamer, and the entry point into the current Innuos range. It stores your ripped CD collection, streams from Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer and the other major services, and is controlled entirely through the Innuos Sense app on a phone or tablet. Innuos design their hardware and their Sense software together, in Portugal, around a single idea: that digital music sounds better when everything in the chain is built to play music rather than adapted from general-purpose computing. The STREAM1 is where that thinking starts.

At its core is 13th-generation Intel Quad-Core processing with 8GB of industrial-grade DDR5 RAM — a genuinely current computing platform, kept quiet and dedicated to audio. Storage is handled by M2 NVMe SSDs, available pre-fitted at 2TB or 4TB, with a user-accessible slot if you want to add your own. CDs are ripped through an external USB optical drive, tagged automatically, and stored as bit-perfect files. See the full Innuos range we stock.

Output Modules — Match It to Your DAC

The STREAM1 is built around a modular output bay, so the connection to your system can be specified to suit what you already own:

  • StandardDAC Board — RCA analogue output plus optical and coaxial SPDIF, for a complete one-box source
  • PerformanceDAC Board — a higher-quality DAC stage with gold-plated RCA analogue output
  • SPDIF Board — coaxial, optical and AES digital outputs for feeding an external DAC
  • PhoenixUSB Board — a regenerated, reclocked USB output that brings Innuos's Phoenix reclocking technology inside the server

That last option matters: it means much of what the standalone Phoenix USB reclocker used to do can now be built into the STREAM1 itself, feeding a clean USB signal straight to your DAC.

Power Supply and the LPS1 Upgrade

The STREAM1 ships with an external switch-mode power supply and a 19V DC input. Power supply quality is one of the most reliable predictors of sound quality in a digital source, so Innuos leave an obvious upgrade path: the LPS1 linear power supply, which replaces the standard unit with a 150VA toroidal transformer and premium Mundorf capacitors. It is the single most effective way to lift the STREAM1's performance, and the two are designed to be bought together.

Connectivity

The STREAM1 has three USB 3.2 ports, a USB-C port, and two bridged 2.5Gb Ethernet connections. It handles PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD up to DSD512 native (DSD256 over DoP), and plays WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, AAC, MP3, DSF and DFF files, with MQA supported.

Sense — The Software

Everything is managed through Innuos Sense, the app that handles ripping, library management, and streaming from services in one place. It is fast and genuinely pleasant to use, which is not something that can be said of every music server platform. For hands-on control from the listening seat, the optional STREAM Remote is worth adding.

Who Is It For?

The STREAM1 is for someone who wants to rip and properly manage a CD collection alongside their streaming services, in one compact box, without the noise and compromise of running it all from a laptop or NAS. It suits a real hi-fi system where the source matters but the budget is sensible, and it leaves room to grow: add the LPS1 when funds allow, and specify the output board that matches your DAC. If you already have a capable DAC, the SPDIF or PhoenixUSB board turns the STREAM1 into a clean digital transport; if you do not, the StandardDAC or PerformanceDAC board makes it a complete source. You can see the full Innuos range to place it in context.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi have been in Norwich since 1968, and we host Innuos in the showroom across the range. We were the first UK dealer to hold an Innuos Nazaré event, and we can demonstrate what a dedicated server like the STREAM1 does against a laptop or NAS with your own music — which is by far the best way to judge whether it earns its place. We can also advise on the right output board and whether the LPS1 upgrade is worthwhile in your system.

When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim at info@martinshifi.co.uk, call 01603 627010, or WhatsApp on 07554 687137. You can read more about how we work on our Why Martins page. We are at 85–91 Ber Street, Norwich, NR1 3EY.
