The Cyrus Audio 80 AMP is Cyrus's first full-width integrated amplifier — a deliberate step beyond the half-width format the company built its reputation on, taken because the brief demanded it. More chassis space means more power supply headroom, more thermal management, and the room to integrate a complete streaming platform without compromising the amplifier stage. The result is a single component that handles every source a modern system requires, and does so with 150 watts per channel behind it.

150W Class A/B Amplification

The 80 AMP runs 150 watts per channel in Class A/B. Class A/B keeps the output stage operating in Class A — where it is most linear — across the signal levels where the ear is most sensitive, then draws on Class B operation for higher demands. The practical consequence is an amplifier with real reserves: one that grips loudspeakers with authority across the full dynamic range of recorded music, not merely at moderate listening levels.

BluOS Streaming Platform

BluOS is the streaming engine at the centre of the 80 AMP. It is an independent platform with its own development roadmap, giving access to high-resolution audio services, internet radio, and personal music libraries. The companion app runs on iOS, Android, Kindle, Mac, and PC. Apple AirPlay 2, Roon Ready certification, and MQA decoding are all built in. A built-in WiFi antenna means the 80 AMP connects to a home network without a wired Ethernet run, though a wired connection remains the cleaner option for critical listening.

ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC

Digital conversion is handled by the ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M 32-bit chipset. Lossless music playback is supported up to 24-bit/192kHz. Every digital source — optical, coaxial, USB-B, or HDMI eARC — passes through this single conversion stage rather than through separate, lower-grade circuits for each input type.

HDMI eARC

The inclusion of HDMI eARC is a quietly significant decision. It allows audio from a television to be routed directly into the 80 AMP and played through the loudspeakers — no AV receiver, no soundbar. For those who want a serious two-channel system that also handles television audio without a parallel compromise, eARC at this level is the correct architecture.

Connectivity

The 80 AMP's input provision is thorough. Four analogue line-level inputs cover the majority of source requirements. An MM/MC phono input is included, removing the need for a separate phono preamplifier for most vinyl setups. Balanced XLR inputs and outputs are provided for balanced sources or power amplifiers. Digital inputs cover two optical, two coaxial, one asynchronous USB-B, and one HDMI eARC. A headphone amplifier is built in. An analogue preamplifier output allows the 80 AMP to drive a separate power amplifier — the 80 Series' own 80 PWR being the natural partner — for those who want to expand the system over time. A full-colour 5-inch TFT display handles source identification, volume readout, and streaming metadata.
