The 707 S3 is the compact standmount loudspeaker in Bowers & Wilkins' 700 Series — a speaker that packs engineering developed in the flagship 800 Series Diamond into a form factor suited to smaller rooms and desktop systems. It is a two-way, vented-box design with a 25 mm Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter and a 130 mm Continuum cone bass/midrange driver, and it makes no concessions to its size.
Decoupled Carbon Dome Tweeter
The tweeter in the 707 S3 is purpose-built for the 700 Series. By using a carbon dome construction, Bowers & Wilkins raise the breakup threshold to 47 kHz — well beyond the audible range — which means the driver remains in controlled, pistonic motion across everything you can hear. The result is imaging precision and high-frequency detail that would have been out of reach at this price point only a few years ago.
Continuum Cone Bass/Midrange
The 130 mm bass/midrange driver uses Bowers & Wilkins' Continuum cone, a composite material developed specifically to eliminate the abrupt changes in behaviour that afflict conventional cone materials at certain frequencies. Where a standard driver may add its own character at the point where its behaviour becomes less predictable, the Continuum cone transitions through those regions without incident. Voices, instruments, and the mid-band detail on which music depends are reproduced cleanly, without colouration imposed by the driver itself.
Flowport and Cabinet Design
The bass reflex port uses Bowers & Wilkins' Flowport technology — a dimpled internal surface, analogous to a golf ball, that reduces turbulence as air moves through the port. The practical effect is bass that is tighter and more controlled, with less of the port noise that can blur the lower registers on a smaller speaker. The cabinet itself features a curved baffle with each drive unit mounted in its own pod — a design philosophy inherited directly from the 800 Series Diamond — which reduces cabinet diffraction and colouration for a cleaner overall presentation.

Who Is It For?
The 707 S3 is for listeners who want a serious standmount speaker for a smaller room, a second system, or a desktop setup. It rewards careful amplifier matching — the 84 dB sensitivity means it works best with a quality amplifier rated between 30 W and 100 W into 8 Ω rather than an entry-level receiver. Those who pair it thoughtfully will find a speaker with no obvious weaknesses at its size. Those who need deeper bass extension or higher output levels for a larger room should consider adding a subwoofer — the Bowers & Wilkins ASW610 or DB2D would be natural companions — or look at a floorstander.
