Gold Note Tuscany

The Gold Note Tuscany is the pinnacle of over two decades of cartridge engineering from Gold Note's Florence atelier — a moving coil design of uncompromising ambition, born from a direct collaboration with Adamant-Namiki in Japan, the world's most celebrated manufacturer of precision diamond styli. It is available in two variants, the Tuscany Gold and the Tuscany Red, each built around a shared philosophy of zero-compromise analogue retrieval — and each representing a genuinely extraordinary achievement in the art of extracting musical truth from a vinyl groove.

Adamant-Namiki Extra-Thin Micro Ridge Diamond

At the heart of both Tuscany variants is an extra-thin Micro Ridge diamond stylus tip, developed exclusively for Gold Note by Adamant-Namiki — a Japanese precision engineering company whose diamond stylus manufacturing is without equal anywhere in the world. The Micro Ridge profile is among the most demanding stylus geometries ever developed: its ultra-thin contact patch traces the innermost detail of the recorded groove wall with a fidelity that no elliptical or line contact profile can approach, recovering high-frequency information, stereo imaging cues, and low-level musical detail that lesser stylus profiles leave permanently buried. The Adamant-Namiki collaboration ensures that every Tuscany leaves Gold Note's atelier with a stylus of verifiable, world-class precision — not a near-equivalent, but the genuine article.

Long Gold-Plated Pin Connectors

The Tuscany's long gold-plated pin connectors are not a cosmetic detail — they are a functional engineering decision of direct sonic consequence. Their extended length ensures optimal, low-resistance contact with the tonearm's cinch connections, minimising energy dispersion at the signal interface and improving grounding integrity throughout the signal path. The result is a noise floor of extraordinary quietness — a silent background against which every musical detail, from the softest pianissimo to the most complex orchestral climax, is rendered with previously unsurpassed clarity and presence.

Elegant Linear Design for Optimum Balance

The Tuscany's body embodies Gold Note's philosophy of purposeful elegance — a minimal linear design conceived not for visual effect but for optimum mechanical balance. Every gram of the Tuscany's mass is positioned to place the cartridge's centre of gravity in precise alignment with the stylus contact point, minimising tonearm loading variation across the playing surface and ensuring that tracking geometry remains as close to ideal as the laws of physics permit. It is a design philosophy that rejects unnecessary complexity in favour of absolute mechanical integrity — and its sonic consequences are audible from the very first note.

Two Models: Gold and Red

The Tuscany Gold delivers an output level of 0.25 mV across a frequency response of 5–55,000 Hz — a low-output moving coil of extraordinary bandwidth, demanding the finest MC phono stage the system can provide, and rewarding that investment with a level of musical transparency and high-frequency extension that sets a new standard at any price. The Tuscany Red delivers 0.35 mV across a frequency response of 10–50,000 Hz — a slightly higher output that broadens compatibility without any compromise to the Tuscany's fundamental character. Both models feature pure silver and copper coils, wound to Gold Note's own specifications and representing the final expression of what is possible in a handmade moving coil cartridge produced exclusively in Italy.

Who Is It For?

The Tuscany is for the analogue enthusiast who has arrived at the summit of vinyl replay and demands a cartridge equal to the journey. It is the natural crowning component of a full Gold Note analogue system — mounted on the Gold Note B-7 Ceramic tonearm, fitted to the Gold Note Mediterraneo, and fed into the Gold Note PH1000 phono stage. Those approaching the Tuscany from elsewhere in the Gold Note range will find it a revelatory step beyond the Gold Note Machiavelli MkII — and those pairing it with the Gold Note Pianosa will discover what that turntable is truly capable of when given a cartridge of matching ambition.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. We can demonstrate the Tuscany in our Norwich showroom, properly mounted and matched to a phono stage of appropriate quality — so you can hear precisely what the Adamant-Namiki Micro Ridge stylus and Gold Note's handmade moving coil engineering deliver in a fully optimised system. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
