The 80 Series, live in Norwich — Thursday 23 July
For forty years, every Cyrus amplifier came in the same half-width "shoebox". The 80 Series is the first time Cyrus have gone full-width — and we're giving it its Norwich debut, with Cyrus's Jason Saxon here in person.
The essentials
- When: Thursday 23 July — sessions at 11am, 1pm and 3pm
- Where: Martins Hi-Fi, 85-91 Ber Street, Norwich
- With: Jason from Cyrus, on hand all day
- Places are limited by the size of the room — book a seat
Why the bigger box matters
A wider chassis leaves room for a bigger power supply inside — the sort of performance that used to mean buying a second box. It's all in one full-width unit now, still made in the UK, still backed by a five-year warranty.
What you'll hear
- 80 AMP — the one-box answer: 150 watts a side, BluOS streaming, an ESS Sabre DAC and a phono stage built in.
- 80 PRE + 80 PWR— the separates, and the real reason to come: a full streaming preamp paired with a 200-watt power amp that switches to 300 in bridged mono, with room to add a second for true monoblocks.
We'll run both across two rooms — the 80 PRE and PWR driving OePhi Transcendence loudspeakers, and the 80 AMP integrated with a pair of PMC Prophecy 5s and a turntable for vinyl — so you can hear exactly what the separates add over a single box.
Bring a record or a few tracks you know inside out. That's when the difference stops being a specification and becomes something you can hear across the room.
