Tellurium Q Black Diamond Speaker Cable
Tellurium Q Black Diamond Speaker Cable
The Black Diamond has an interesting origin. Tellurium Q's earlier Graphite cable was described by one reviewer as the best speaker cable they had ever heard — and yet a small number of systems revealed a slight heaviness to the sound that didn't sit right. Rather than ignore the feedback, Tellurium Q did what they always do: treated it as a research challenge. The Black Diamond was born from that work, and it surpasses the Graphite in every respect without any of its occasional shortcomings.
Sitting at the top of the Black family, the Black Diamond shares the range's characteristic qualities — smooth, finely detailed, natural and organic, with a jaw-dropping sense of realism — but taken to a higher level altogether. The tonal balance is described by High Fidelity as simply perfect. The soundstage is wide and three-dimensional, with instruments placed and separated with exceptional precision. Transient detail is handled effortlessly, micro-dynamics are breathtakingly good, and the overall presentation manages to be simultaneously transparent and dramatic — a combination that is genuinely rare at any price.
What strikes owners most consistently is the way the Black Diamond continues to improve with use, getting richer, more resolved and more musical as the hours accumulate. One owner in Boston reported that after 300 hours his B&W 802Ds had never sounded happier. A reviewer for Pursuit Perfect System described going from being impressed to being in love, and not wanting to take them out of the system. A dealer in Hungary found them equally at home on a €15,000 amplifier and a €2,000 speaker — and switched permanently to using them for all his demonstrations as a result.
HiFi Pig recommended them as probably the last cable you will ever need to buy. It is hard to argue with that assessment.
Available with banana plug or spade terminations, and suitable for bi-wiring. Priced per single metre — a stereo pair requires two runs, one to each channel.
