The Stillpoints Ultra 6 is the reference isolation footer for audio electronics — a component that addresses vibration not as an afterthought but as the central engineering problem of high-end audio reproduction. Where most isolation products damp mechanical energy, converting it to heat and inevitably colouring the sound in the process, the Ultra 6 isolates: it removes vibration from the signal path entirely, operating above 20kHz without shifting tonal character or imposing a sonic signature of its own. The result is a noise floor that single-sided isolation designs cannot approach, and a level of resolution that makes the Ultra 6 one of the most consequential upgrades available to any serious system.

Six Technology Pockets — Opposing Configuration

The Ultra 6 is the first Stillpoints product to place technology pockets on both sides of the isolator. Five exposed pockets on the upper surface make direct contact with the component chassis; a sixth pocket on the underside addresses vibration rising from the support surface below. This dual-sided arrangement tackles mechanical energy from both directions simultaneously — a fundamentally different proposition from isolation devices that address only one source of vibration at a time.

Inside each technology pocket sits Stillpoints' proprietary ceramic bearing ball stack, housed in a precision-machined stainless steel body. This stack is the mechanism by which vibration is converted and dissipated — not absorbed into a compliant material, which would introduce its own character, but processed through a geometry that leaves the signal path undisturbed. The six-pocket opposing configuration means that both external vibration transmitted through the support surface and the micro-vibrations generated internally by transformers, capacitors, and circuits are addressed within a single footer.

True Isolation, Not Damping

The distinction between isolation and damping is not semantic. A damping product absorbs mechanical energy and converts it — a process that is frequency-dependent, temperature-sensitive, and never sonically neutral. The Ultra 6 isolates: it operates above 20kHz, removing noise without the frequency-selective colouration that damping materials introduce. The component sits on three or four Ultra 6 footers; vibration does not pass through them. What the amplifier, DAC, preamplifier, or phono stage generates and receives in terms of mechanical noise is effectively decoupled from the rest of the system.

Ultra Base — a Worthwhile Addition

The Ultra 6 accepts the optional Ultra Base beneath each footer, and Stillpoints report a 20–25% improvement in isolation performance when the Base is used. The Ultra Base additionally provides fine height adjustment for levelling — a practical benefit on any component or rack surface that is less than perfectly flat. The combination is available as a discounted bundle.

A central 1/4-20 threaded hole allows the Ultra 6 to attach directly to components using Stillpoints adapters, and the footer integrates with Stillpoints rack systems — the Stillpoints ESS Rack via X Grid or Rail Grid — as well as the Component Stand SS. The Ultra 6 can also be placed between cabinet sections of multi-module loudspeakers.

Who Is It For?

The Ultra 6 is for the serious audiophile who has reached the point in system development where the source of remaining limitations is mechanical rather than electronic. It suits amplifiers, preamplifiers, DACs, CD transports, phono stages, and power conditioners — any component where internally generated or externally transmitted vibration is degrading performance. Three footers are the minimum; four are preferable where the component's weight and chassis geometry allow. Those with a complete Stillpoints rack system will find the Ultra 6 the natural footer choice for every component within it.
