Rega Nd5 Moving Magnet Cartridge

Rega Nd5 Moving Magnet Cartridge

The Rega Nd5 is part of Rega's Nd moving magnet cartridge range. Rega list it as an optional fit on both the Planar 3 and Planar 6.

Neodymium Magnet Technology

The coils are miniaturised and parallel-wound. The Nd5 uses a perfect elliptical nude diamond stylus and a three-point fixing.

Perfect Elliptical Nude Diamond Stylus

The Nd5 is fitted with a perfect elliptical nude diamond stylus. Where the Nd7 and Nd9 use a fine line profile, the Nd5 uses an elliptical — a well-proven geometry that tracks the groove accurately and retrieves considerable detail. The window colour is clear smoked.

Who Is It For?

The Nd5 is for the vinyl listener who has invested in a capable turntable and wants a cartridge that keeps pace with it. It pairs with the Rega Fono MM MK5 Phonostage and sits on a Rega Planar 3. Those looking at the entry point of the Nd range should consider the Rega Nd3, while those who want the fine line nude diamond stylus of the upper Nd models should look at the Rega Nd9. The Nd5 is not for someone running a budget arm — it rewards a quality setup and a tonearm that can make the most of what the Neodymium generator offers.
