Rega Naia Turntable
The Naia is Rega's statement turntable — a limited-production, cost-no-object design that represents the absolute ceiling of their thinking about vinyl playback. It was developed directly from the Naiad, Rega's internal reference deck, built without commercial constraints to explore what is possible. The Naia transfers that research into a production turntable.
Everything in the Naia exists because it is the best solution Rega have found to a specific problem. The materials, the geometry, the manufacturing tolerances, and the component choices are not refinements of earlier work — in several cases, they are entirely new approaches.
Where the Naia Sits in the Rega Range
The Naia is the current flagship of the Rega range, sitting above the Planar 8. The step up from the Planar 8 is not incremental — the plinth material, the tonearm, the platter, the bearing, and the drive system are all fundamentally different.
The Naia is not for everyone — and it should not be. It is for the listener who has heard what the Planar 8 can do and found that it is not quite enough, or who wants to own the finest turntable Rega make and has the system to justify it. If you are undecided about whether the Naia is for you, it almost certainly is not yet. If you have arrived at the point where nothing else is quite enough, we would like to talk to you about it.
Sound and Performance
The Naia is built to extract the maximum information from a record and present it without interference from the turntable itself. Every engineering decision points in the same direction.
The graphene-impregnated carbon fibre skeletal plinth over a Tancast 8 foam core is the stiffest, lightest plinth structure Rega make. Graphene — one of the strongest materials known — is woven into the carbon fibre matrix, producing a stressed-beam structure that stores almost no energy. What the stylus reads from the groove is not mixed with energy from the plinth; it reaches the phono stage with exceptional purity.
The RB Titanium tonearm takes the bearing precision of the RB880 further still. The vertical bearing housing and spindle are machined from titanium — stiffer and lighter than aluminium — and the bearings have no measurable free play. The tungsten balance weight shaft and weight provide precise tracking force adjustment without adding unnecessary mass to the arm structure. The arm moves without constraint, allowing the cartridge to follow the groove exactly as the cutting lathe intended.
The ceramic platter — a resonance-controlled design with a complex profile — provides a more inert surface than glass, with a flywheel effect that glass does not approach. The ZTA (zirconium toughened alumina) bearing assembly, harder than any conventional bearing material and lubricated with an ultra-thin synthetic oil, runs with exceptional quietness and very high precision.
The triple reference EBLT drive belts maintain consistent drive without the speed variations that a single belt can introduce. The reference-grade DSP power supply — an external unit — delivers the precision motor control that allows all of this engineering to operate at its full potential.
What this produces is a turntable at which the recording itself becomes the subject. Coloration from the replay chain is reduced to the point where what you hear is what was recorded — and on great recordings, that is extraordinary.
Build Quality and Design
The Naia is hand-assembled in Southend-on-Sea. The graphene carbon fibre skeletal plinth with ceramic double braces is a visually striking object — the structure is exposed rather than enclosed, a direct expression of Rega's lightweight philosophy taken to its logical conclusion.
The turntable weighs 4.65 kg including the dustcover; the external power supply is 3 kg. Dimensions with dustcover: 420 × 115 × 350 mm. Power supply: 218 × 80 × 320 mm.
The Naia is available with or without the Rega Aphelion 2 MC cartridge factory-fitted. The Aphelion 2 is Rega's reference cartridge — the natural match for the RB Titanium arm — and is the recommended starting point unless you have a specific alternative in mind. Lifetime limited warranty against manufacturing defects.
Connectivity and System Matching
The Naia outputs a standard stereo RCA signal. A phono stage is required and its quality matters considerably at this level. The Rega Aura MC — Rega's reference phono stage, a three-stage symmetrical pre-amplifier design — is the natural partner for the Aphelion 2 cartridge and fully realises what the Naia is capable of delivering. Running the Naia into a budget phono stage is not the best use of the investment.
The Naia will reveal everything in the chain beyond it. It suits a system in which the amplification and loudspeakers have been chosen with the same seriousness. We are happy to discuss what that system should look like, and how to build toward it.

Who Is It For?
The Naia is for the listener who has reached the top of the Rega range and found it to be the right destination — who wants the finest turntable Rega make and has a system and a room that can do it justice. It is a long-term investment in the best that Rega's fifty years of turntable knowledge can produce. It is not for the listener who is still exploring the range; it is for those who have stopped exploring and are ready to arrive.
Buying from Martin's Hi-Fi
Martin's Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968, and the Rega range has been part of what we do for years. We are still family-run — Elizabeth Gould runs the business today — and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
The Naia is available to hear in our Norwich showroom; call ahead and we will set aside the time to do it properly. When you get in touch, you will be speaking to Dave or Chris — both experienced hi-fi specialists who can talk you through the Naia, the system it belongs in, and whether it is the right choice for where you are.
Reach them at dave@martinshifi.co.uk, chris@martinshifi.co.uk, info@martinshifi.co.uk, call on 01603 627010, or WhatsApp Dave or Chris directly on 07554 687137 for a quick answer after your purchase. You can read more about who we are and how we work on our Why Martin's page. We are at 85–91 Ber Street, Norwich, NR1 3EY, open six days a week.
