Quad QC Twenty Four P
The Quad QC Twenty Four P is a valve preamplifier with phono — the definitive analogue preamplifier for the serious vinyl enthusiast who refuses to compromise on the quality of either their phono stage or their line-level amplification. Built on the same uncompromising engineering foundations as the QC Twenty Four, the QC Twenty Four P adds a fully integrated moving magnet and moving coil phono stage to the valve preamplifier architecture that has made the QC Twenty Four one of the most musically accomplished preamplifiers Quad has ever produced — delivering a complete, self-contained analogue signal chain of extraordinary purity and resolution.
Phono Stage
The phono stage at the heart of the QC Twenty Four P accommodates both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges via a front-panel toggle switch — a simple, direct solution that ensures the optimal gain and loading for each cartridge type without the signal path compromises inherent in more complex switching arrangements. The variable level control provides direct output level adjustment for use with a wide range of amplification — whether driving Quad's own valve power amplifiers directly or integrating with an existing system — making the QC Twenty Four P one of the most versatile phono preamplifiers available at any price.
Transformer Design
As with the QC Twenty Four, the transformers employed throughout the QC Twenty Four P are designed by one of the world's leading authorities on audio transformer design — components that preserve the full bandwidth, dynamic range and tonal integrity of the musical signal with a fidelity that transformer-coupled valve circuits alone can achieve. Input switching is handled by relays throughout, eliminating mechanical wear from the signal path and maintaining an identical routing topology regardless of input selection — a commitment to signal integrity that honours Peter Walker's defining ambition of the theoretical perfect amplifier: a straight wire with gain.
Valve Selection
The QC Twenty Four P's new old stock 6111WA double triode valves are selected from global supply chains for their exceptional linearity, low noise floor and long-term reliability — valves whose performance characteristics are ideally suited to the demands of a phono stage, where the ability to resolve the finest low-level detail from a moving coil cartridge's output is the paramount challenge. The result is a preamplifier that transforms the vinyl listening experience — recovering detail, dynamics and spatial information from analogue recordings that lesser phono stages leave permanently buried in the noise floor.
The QC Twenty Four P is the natural anchor of a complete Quad valve system. Paired with the Quad QII-Classic or Quad QII-Forty power amplifiers, it forms a valve system of extraordinary coherence and musical authority. Those whose loudspeakers demand the ultimate in valve power delivery will find the Quad QII-Eighty an ideal partner — a combination that sets a new standard for complete valve system performance at its price point.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
