PMC Prodigy5

PMC Prodigy5

The PMC Prodigy5 is a compact floorstander that solves a problem many rooms present: genuine bass weight and scale without the footprint to match. Its slim profile takes up no more floor space than a pair of standmount speakers on their stands, yet it fills larger spaces with authority — a useful trick that PMC achieves through engineering rather than compromise.

Advanced Transmission Line

The foundation of the Prodigy5 is PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) bass-loading, a technology derived directly from their professional studio monitor work. The result is a bottom end that is both prodigious in weight and clean in its control: the kind of bass that stays disciplined even when you push the volume.

Drive Units and Crossover

The Prodigy5 uses a 5.25-inch natural fibre long-throw LT™ bass/midrange driver paired with a 27mm soft dome tweeter, crossing over at 1.7kHz. Wide dispersion from the tweeter extends the listening sweet spot considerably — you are not locked into a single precise position to hear the speaker at its best. Vocals sit naturally in the mix, instruments occupy convincing space, and the treble remains open and unforced at realistic listening levels.

Technical Specifications

Who Is It For?

The Prodigy5 suits anyone who wants a full-range floorstander in a room — or a life — that doesn't have space for a larger cabinet. Optional grilles are available for those who prefer a cleaner visual profile. Wide dispersion means it is genuinely relaxed about where you listen from — no fixed sweet spot required.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.

You can hear the PMC Prodigy5 at our Norwich showroom, where we can demonstrate it alongside electronics we know it works well with — including other speakers from the PMC range such as the PMC twenty5.21 and the PMC twenty5.22i, so you can find the right fit for your room and system. If you are curious how it compares to the PMC Prodigy 1, we can run that comparison too.

When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave and Chris — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
