The KEF LS60 Wireless is a fully active, wireless floorstanding speaker that does away with the traditional hi-fi separates stack entirely. Powered by 1,400W of dedicated amplification and built around KEF's most advanced driver technology, it is designed to be the only component between your music and your ears — and to make that proposition entirely convincing.

12th Generation Uni-Q with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™)

The LS60 Wireless is built around KEF's 12th Generation Uni-Q driver array, which positions the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the midrange cone. This Single Apparent Source configuration means treble, midrange and bass all appear to radiate from the same point in space, producing a wide, stable sweet spot rather than a listening position you have to find and hold. The Uni-Q in the LS60 is specific to this model and includes a tweeter gap damper and a new Z-Flex surround, both designed to improve the transition of sound from driver to room.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology — MAT™ — is built into the rear of the tweeter assembly. KEF describe it as an acoustic black hole: a precisely engineered maze-like structure that absorbs the rearward radiation from the tweeter rather than allowing it to reflect back through the driver and colour the output. KEF state that MAT absorbs 99% of this unwanted energy, with the result being a measurable reduction in distortion and a cleaner treble register.

Uni-Core Force-Cancelling Bass Drivers

The LS60's slim cabinet creates a genuine engineering challenge for low-frequency reproduction. KEF's answer is four Uni-Core drivers — a technology first developed for the KEF KC62 Subwoofer — arranged in two back-to-back force-cancelling pairs. The Uni-Core design allows the voice coil and magnet assembly to be shared between two opposing drivers within a single compact unit, dramatically reducing the depth required while maintaining excursion capability. The force-cancelling arrangement means the mechanical energy of one driver is directly opposed by its partner, which suppresses cabinet vibration and keeps the midrange and tweeter operating in a quieter acoustic environment.

Music Integrity Engine

The Music Integrity Engine is the signal processing architecture that coordinates all of the LS60's acoustic and electronic systems. It brings together KEF's Digital Signal Processing algorithms, crossover management and the low-frequency phase correction system introduced on this model. Low-frequency phase correction ensures that the timing relationship between bass, midrange and treble is precisely maintained — an important factor in the coherence and imaging that active speaker designs can lose if the individual amplifier channels are not properly aligned. The result is a presentation where instruments sit in specific, stable positions within the soundstage rather than blurring together.

W2 Wireless Platform and Connectivity

The LS60 Wireless uses the same W2 wireless platform found in the LS50 Wireless II. Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Bluetooth are all supported out of the box. The KEF Connect app gives access to Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer, while Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and QPlay are available via their native applications. The LS60 is also Roon Ready. For high-resolution audio, the system supports PCM up to 24-bit/384kHz, MQA decoding and DSD.

Wired connectivity is equally comprehensive: HDMI eARC for television connection, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs are all provided. A dedicated subwoofer output on each speaker allows the addition of one or two KEF subwoofers — the KC62 pairs particularly well — for those who want to extend the low-frequency reach further.

The link between the two speakers is wireless, keeping cable runs to a minimum in the listening room. The LS60 is available in Titanium Grey, Mineral White and Royal Blue, with the design developed in collaboration with industrial designer Michael Young.

Who Is It For?

The LS60 Wireless suits anyone who wants serious hi-fi performance without the complexity of a separate amplifier, DAC and streaming chain. It works particularly well in rooms where a clean, minimal installation matters — a single pair of speakers with a single power cable each, controlled entirely from a phone. At £4,999, it sits at a level where it competes directly with good separates systems; the honest case for it is that KEF have been able to optimise every element of the amplification and DSP specifically for this cabinet and these drivers, in a way that a general-purpose amplifier cannot replicate. If you already own a KEF Blade Meta or similar flagship passive speaker, the LS60 is a different proposition — but for those who want to step off the upgrade treadmill, it is a compelling one.
