KEF LS60 Wireless

The KEF LS60 Wireless is the most complete expression of KEF's active loudspeaker engineering — a fully wireless floorstanding speaker that replaces an entire hi-fi separates system with a single pair of cables to the mains. Powered by 1,400W of dedicated amplification across six channels per pair, built around the 12th generation Uni-Q® with Metamaterial Absorption Technology, and governed by KEF's Music Integrity Engine DSP platform, the LS60 Wireless is designed to be the only component between your music and your ears — and to make that proposition entirely convincing at £4,999.

12th Generation Uni-Q® with MAT™

The LS60 Wireless is built around a bespoke version of KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array — a 19 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter mounted at the acoustic centre of a 100 mm aluminium cone midrange unit. This Single Apparent Source configuration means treble and midrange appear to radiate from precisely the same point in space, producing a wide, stable sweet spot and a soundstage of exceptional coherence. The Uni-Q® in the LS60 is specific to this model and incorporates a redesigned tweeter gap damper and a new Z-Flex surround, both developed to improve the transition of sound from driver to room.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology — MAT™ — is built into the rear of the tweeter assembly. A precisely engineered maze-like structure, each channel individually tuned to absorb a specific frequency of unwanted rearward tweeter radiation, MAT™ acts as an acoustic black hole — absorbing 99% of the energy that would otherwise reflect back through the driver and colour the output. The result is a measurable reduction in distortion and a treble register of exceptional purity and naturalness.

Uni-Core® Force-Cancelling Bass Drivers

The LS60's slim cabinet — 1090 mm tall but just 130 mm wide without its plinth — creates a genuine engineering challenge for low-frequency reproduction. KEF's answer is four 135 mm Uni-Core® drivers arranged in two back-to-back force-cancelling pairs. Uni-Core® technology — first developed for the KEF KC62 Subwoofer — combines both driver motor assemblies onto a single shared magnet system, dramatically reducing the depth required whilst maintaining excursion capability. The force-cancelling arrangement means the mechanical energy of one driver is directly opposed by its partner, suppressing cabinet vibration and keeping the Uni-Q® operating in a quieter acoustic environment. The result is bass that reaches 26 Hz at −6 dB — remarkable from a cabinet of these dimensions.

Music Integrity Engine and Amplification

The Music Integrity Engine is the signal processing architecture that coordinates all of the LS60's acoustic and electronic systems. Each speaker is powered by three dedicated amplifier channels: 500W Class D for low frequencies, 100W Class D for midrange, and 100W Class AB for the tweeter — 700W per speaker, 1,400W per pair. The Music Integrity Engine applies KEF's DSP algorithms, crossover management at 340 Hz and 3.1 kHz, and a low-frequency phase correction system that ensures the timing relationship between bass, midrange and treble is precisely maintained throughout the signal chain. The result is a presentation of genuine coherence — instruments in specific, stable positions within the soundstage rather than blurring together — that active speaker designs can lose when amplifier channels are not properly aligned to their drivers.

W2 Wireless Platform and Connectivity

The LS60 Wireless uses KEF's W2 wireless platform — supporting Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and Bluetooth 4.2. The KEF Connect app provides access to Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer natively; Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and QPlay are available through their own applications. The LS60 is Roon Ready. For high-resolution audio, network streaming supports PCM up to 24-bit/384kHz. The optical input accepts up to 24-bit/96kHz; coaxial and HDMI eARC up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Wired connectivity on the primary speaker is comprehensive: HDMI eARC for television connection, TOSLINK optical, digital coaxial, and analogue RCA. An RJ45 Ethernet port provides a wired network connection when preferred. A dedicated RCA subwoofer output on each speaker — primary and secondary — allows the addition of one or two subwoofers for those who want to extend the low-frequency reach further; the KEF KC62 pairs particularly well. The inter-speaker link is wireless as standard, or wired for 24-bit/192kHz resolution if preferred.

The LS60 Wireless is available in Titanium Grey, Mineral White and Royal Blue, with the design developed in collaboration with industrial designer Michael Young.

Who Is It For?

The LS60 Wireless suits anyone who wants serious hi-fi performance without the complexity of a separate amplifier, DAC, streamer, and cabling chain. It works particularly well in rooms where a clean, minimal installation matters — a single pair of speakers with a single power cable each, controlled entirely from a phone or a remote. The honest case for the LS60 Wireless is that KEF have been able to optimise every element of the amplification, DSP, and driver system specifically for this cabinet — in a way that a general-purpose amplifier cannot replicate. At £4,999 it competes directly with good separates systems in terms of outright investment; the argument for it is that the integration advantage is real, and that the system you buy on day one is the system KEF designed it to be. Those who prefer the separates route should consider the KEF Blade Meta as the ultimate expression of KEF's passive loudspeaker engineering.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.

The KEF LS60 Wireless is available to hear at our Norwich showroom — we can walk you through the setup, demonstrate the KEF Connect app, and discuss how the LS60 compares to building a separates system at a similar budget. If you are considering adding a subwoofer, we also stock the KEF KC62 and the two work together particularly well. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
