The KC62 occupies a peculiar position in the subwoofer market: it is physically small enough to sit alongside a pair of bookshelf speakers, yet KEF make no apology for the bass output it is capable of producing. The proposition is straightforward — deep, accurate low-frequency reproduction from a cabinet that does not define the room it sits in.
Uni-Core Force Cancellation
The KC62 uses KEF's Uni-Core Force Cancellation technology, which allows two force-cancelling drivers to share a single motor system. The practical result is a cabinet far smaller than conventional twin-driver subwoofer designs would permit, without the compromises in excursion or output that compactness usually brings. The drivers work against each other's movement, cancelling the vibration that would otherwise travel into the floor and furniture.
Music Integrity Engine
KEF's Music Integrity Engine handles the signal processing on board. This is not a generic DSP implementation — it is KEF's own approach to managing the relationship between amplifier, driver and cabinet, correcting for the distortions that compact enclosures introduce. The result is bass that tracks musical timing rather than smearing it, and low-frequency effects in film soundtracks that arrive with impact rather than boom.

Who Is It For?
The KC62 suits two types of buyer. The first is someone running a high-quality two-channel system — perhaps built around the KEF Blade Meta or a pair of standmount speakers — who wants genuine low-frequency extension without a cabinet that dominates the room. The second is a home cinema enthusiast working in a smaller space where a full-size subwoofer is simply not practical.
It is not, it should be said, a budget product. At this price, the KC62 is competing with considerably larger designs from well-regarded manufacturers. The case for it rests entirely on the space constraint — if room size is not a limiting factor, a larger subwoofer will almost certainly offer more output for the same outlay. If it is, the KC62 is in a category of its own.
