KEF KC62 Subwoofer
The KEF KC62 is a subwoofer that redefines what is possible from a compact enclosure — a football-sized sealed cabinet capable of deep, accurate, room-filling bass that renders the traditional large-shouldered subwoofer not merely unnecessary but obsolete. Built around KEF's patented Uni-Core® technology and driven by 1,000W RMS of Class D amplification, the KC62 extends to 11 Hz in a cabinet measuring just 246 × 256 × 248 mm and weighing 14 kg — a combination of extension, output, and physical modesty that was previously unsurpassed in any subwoofer at any price. For music, cinema, and gaming systems where deep, controlled bass is essential but physical footprint is limited, the KC62 sets a new standard.
Uni-Core® Technology
The engineering breakthrough at the heart of the KC62 is KEF's patented Uni-Core® technology — a solution to the fundamental conflict that has always limited compact subwoofer design. Conventional force-cancelling subwoofer designs place two drive units back-to-back on separate magnet systems, but this arrangement dictates a minimum cabinet depth determined by the physical separation of the two motor assemblies. Uni-Core® eliminates this constraint by combining both drive units onto a single shared magnet system — allowing the two 6.5-inch force-cancelling drivers to interleave their voice coils within the same magnetic gap. The result is a dual-driver, force-cancelling subwoofer in a cabinet dramatically shallower than any comparable conventional design — without any concession to the mechanical advantage and vibration cancellation that force-cancelling architecture provides.
P-Flex Surround
The KC62's 6.5-inch drivers feature KEF's P-Flex surround — a unique pleated origami-inspired surround geometry that replaces the conventional half-roll surround found on virtually every other subwoofer driver. Where a conventional surround limits driver excursion by its own stiffness and geometry, the P-Flex surround unfolds progressively as the driver moves, providing greater linear excursion within a given driver diameter than any conventional surround design permits. The result is deeper bass extension and more precisely controlled driver movement — the mechanical foundation of the KC62's ability to reach 11 Hz from a 6.5-inch driver in a sealed cabinet.
Music Integrity Engine
The KC62's 1,000W RMS Class D amplification — configured as two 500W channels — is governed by KEF's Music Integrity Engine DSP platform, which incorporates two proprietary technologies working in concert. iBX Intelligent Bass Extension analyses the programme material in real time and applies frequency-dependent gain to extend the KC62's usable bass response below its natural sealed-box roll-off point — delivering bass extension that the cabinet's physical dimensions alone could not achieve. SmartLimiter monitors driver excursion, amplifier output, and thermal loading simultaneously, intervening only when necessary to prevent mechanical or thermal damage — and doing so with sufficient intelligence to preserve musical dynamics at all other times. Smart Distortion Control Technology operates alongside these systems to reduce distortion across the KC62's operating range, ensuring that the bass it delivers is not merely deep but accurate.
Connectivity and Room Integration
The KC62 provides a comprehensive connectivity suite via KEF SmartConnect — line-level LFE input via RCA phono sockets, speaker-level inputs, and a line output with switchable High Pass Filter for integrating the KC62 into systems without a dedicated subwoofer output. The variable low-pass filter is adjustable between 40 Hz and 140 Hz, and the High Pass Filter offers eleven selectable turnover frequencies between 40 Hz and 120 Hz — providing the flexibility to integrate the KC62 accurately with a wide range of main loudspeakers. Five pre-set Room Placement EQ settings — free space, next to the wall, in a corner, within a cabinet, and apartment mode — address the real-world acoustic consequences of subwoofer placement, and wireless connectivity is available via the optional KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter. The KC62's extruded aluminium curved cabinet is available in Carbon Black, Mineral White, and Titanium Grey.

Who Is It For?
The KC62 is for the listener who demands genuine deep bass — bass that reaches below 20 Hz and pressurises a room convincingly — but cannot or will not accommodate a conventional large-format subwoofer. It is equally at home augmenting a two-channel music system, anchoring the low-frequency performance of a compact home cinema installation, or adding physical weight to a gaming setup. It pairs naturally with KEF's own loudspeaker range — including the KEF LS60 Wireless and the KEF Blade Meta — and is compact enough to disappear into virtually any room without visual compromise.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
We can demonstrate the KC62 at our Norwich showroom — the only way to appreciate what a subwoofer of these dimensions is genuinely capable of. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
