Gold Note PSU-1250 / PSU-1000
The Gold Note PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 are reference-level external power supplies conceived for Gold Note's most demanding electronics — precision-engineered instruments that remove the power supply entirely from the connected component's chassis and replace it with a linear supply of extraordinary cleanliness, stability, and dynamic authority. Where an internal power supply must coexist within the same chassis as the audio circuitry it feeds — inevitably introducing some degree of electromagnetic and radio-frequency contamination into the signal environment — the PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 eliminate this compromise entirely, delivering power of exceptional purity to the connected component while operating in complete physical isolation from the audio signal path.
Multiple Low-Noise Voltage Regulators
The PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 are distinguished by their voltage regulator count — seven in the PSU-1250 and five in the PSU-1000 — each an ultra-low noise device of the highest specification, and each dedicated to a specific power rail within the connected component's circuitry. The consequence of this multi-regulator architecture is a power supply of exceptional granularity: every circuit within the connected component receives its own independently regulated, independently filtered power rail, free from the cross-contamination that shared regulators inevitably introduce. Maximum output voltage variation across all rails is a vanishingly small 0.05% — a figure that speaks directly to the extraordinary stability of the electrical environment the PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 create for the audio circuitry they serve.
Greater Than 80 dB Noise Rejection
Both the PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 achieve line noise rejection and common mode noise rejection figures in excess of 80 dB — a performance standard that places them among the most effective mains filtration components available at any price. Mains-borne interference — the accumulated electrical noise of every switched-mode power supply, digital device, and lighting circuit sharing the domestic mains ring — is rejected with a thoroughness that capacitive filtering alone cannot approach, delivering a power supply output of exceptional quietness to the connected component's audio circuitry. The sonic consequence is audible immediately: a noise floor of extraordinary blackness, a soundstage of improved depth and three-dimensional stability, and a retrieval of low-level musical detail that the connected component's internal power supply, however well engineered, cannot fully enable.
Absolute Phase Control
Both units feature absolute phase control, selectable from the front panel — a facility that allows the phase relationship between the mains supply and the power supply output to be optimised for the specific characteristics of the domestic mains ring. In practice, the correct phase setting can produce a meaningful and audible improvement in the quietness of the noise floor and the naturalness of the musical presentation — and the ability to select it from the front panel, without tools or internal adjustment, makes this optimisation entirely accessible during normal use.
Extraordinary Dynamic Power Capability
With a full power response time of less than 2.5 microseconds, the PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 respond to the instantaneous current demands of demanding audio circuitry with a speed that passive power supply designs cannot approach. Dynamic power delivery — the ability to supply large, instantaneous current demands without voltage sag or dynamic compression — is a fundamental determinant of musical realism, and the PSU-1250's greater than 300W and PSU-1000's greater than 200W dynamic power figures represent a level of headroom that transforms the musical performance of the connected component across the full dynamic range of the recording.

Who Is It For?
The PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 are for the committed Gold Note enthusiast who understands that the power supply is not a peripheral concern but a primary determinant of musical performance — and who wants to hear what their Gold Note electronics are genuinely capable of when fed with power of reference quality. Both units are natural partners for the Gold Note PH-10 phono stage and the Gold Note PA-10 power amplifier, and their compatibility with the full range of Gold Note's Series 10 and reference electronics makes them a single, upgradeable investment that can serve every component in the system. Those building the complete Gold Note reference system will find the PSU-1250 the natural companion to Gold Note's finest analogue sources — the component that allows every other element in the chain to perform without compromise.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. We can demonstrate the PSU-1250 and PSU-1000 in our Norwich showroom, connected to a suitable Gold Note component, so you can hear precisely what reference-quality external power delivery contributes to real-world musical performance. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
