Gold Note PH-5.2 Phono Stage
The Gold Note PH-5.2 is a phono stage built for the serious audiophile who wants complete control over their vinyl replay without sacrificing sonic integrity. At its core is a true Class A analogue signal path, housed in a newly redesigned black sandblasted anodised aluminium chassis that minimises interference from magnetic fields — allowing micro-details to emerge with greater precision and naturalness. With eight gain levels, nine input impedance options, and full MM and MC cartridge compatibility, the PH-5.2 can be tuned precisely to suit virtually any turntable and cartridge combination. All settings are managed through a colour TFT touchscreen on the front panel, making adjustments straightforward without any compromise to the signal path.

Key Features
- True Class A analogue signal path for maximum purity and natural tonal character
- Six EQ curves — RIAA, Decca London, and American Columbia, each with an Enhanced option — for faithful replay of a wide range of pressings
- Full MM and MC cartridge compatibility with eight gain levels (34dB–66dB) and nine input impedance options
- Colour TFT touchscreen interface for intuitive, on-the-fly adjustment of all settings
- Black sandblasted anodised aluminium chassis engineered to reduce magnetic field interaction
- Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs to suit any system configuration
- Upgradeable with the optional PSX-5.2 external inductive power supply
Technology & Design
The redesigned chassis does more than refresh the PH-5.2's appearance. Sandblasted anodised aluminium interacts far less with magnetic fields than conventional materials, creating a cleaner electrical and mechanical environment around the circuitry. The result is a lower noise floor and a greater ability to resolve the fine detail buried in a record's groove. Internal components are selected to audiophile standard throughout, from the connectors at the rear panel to the signal path components themselves.
The optional PSX-5.2 external inductive power supply takes performance further still, delivering improved stability and stronger current control under real-world conditions. The practical benefit is firmer dynamics, cleaner high frequencies during complex passages, and a presentation that feels more composed and authoritative.
The Listening Experience
Through the PH-5.2, vinyl replay takes on the kind of tonal density and dimensionality that distinguishes genuinely high-end audio. Bass is controlled and well-defined, the midrange carries natural body and presence, and high frequencies remain articulate without edge or fatigue. The six selectable EQ curves are a particular strength — the ability to apply Decca London or American Columbia equalisation, each with an Enhanced variant, brings a new coherence to older pressings and pre-RIAA recordings that a standard RIAA-only stage simply cannot offer.
Heritage
Gold Note is based in Florence, Italy, and has built a strong reputation in specialist audio circles for products that combine careful engineering with genuinely musical results. Their 'il suono italiano' ethos reflects a commitment to analogue authenticity, and the PH-5.2 represents the latest refinement of a phono stage lineage that has earned the brand considerable critical respect.
