The Vintage Classic VIII SM is Fyne Audio's standmount speaker in the Vintage Classic series — a compact cabinet in walnut veneer over high-density fibreboard that carries a 200mm IsoFlare driver and BassTrax downward-firing port. The Vintage Classic design takes visual cues from high-efficiency loudspeakers of the 1960s and 1970s whilst using entirely contemporary drive unit and crossover technology.
IsoFlare Technology
The 200mm IsoFlare driver is the same point source design used across Fyne Audio's SP and F1 ranges. The 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter sits at the geometric centre of the bass/midrange cone, creating a true coaxial point source with no time-alignment offset between the two drive units. The ferrite magnet system is specified for long-term stability and the cone uses Fyne's FyneFlute roll surround to control harmonic distortion at the surround junction.
BassTrax and Crossover
Bass energy is loaded downward through a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser — unusual for a standmount at this price, and partly responsible for the 34Hz in-room extension. The 1.8kHz crossover uses Cryo-Lite treated components. HF energy and Presence trim switches (±3dB each) are mounted on the rear panel. The cabinet is walnut-veneered high-density fibreboard with extensive internal bracing.

Who Is It For?
The Vintage Classic VIII SM is for listeners who want the IsoFlare point source character in a standmount cabinet with a traditional aesthetic. The walnut veneer and classic proportions work well in period or traditionally furnished rooms where a contemporary black or white gloss speaker would look out of place. The 91dB sensitivity makes it an excellent match for lower-powered amplifiers. It pairs naturally with Fyne Audio's FS8 stands, or with a good third-party stand with appropriate mass and top plate dimensions.
