The Vintage Classic Gold VIII SP is Fyne Audio's Special Production version of the 8-inch Vintage Classic series — distinguished from the standard Vintage Classic VIII by neodymium magnet systems, high-density birch ply cabinets, gold-plated ETI terminals, and deeper-cryo-treated crossover components. The result is a speaker that shares the heritage aesthetic of the Vintage Classic range but is built to a significantly higher standard.
IsoFlare with Neodymium Magnets
Where the standard Vintage Classic VIII uses ferrite magnets, the Gold SP models specify neodymium magnet systems throughout. Neodymium allows a smaller, lighter magnet assembly for the same field strength, which reduces moving mass and typically improves transient speed and dynamic agility. The 200mm IsoFlare driver places the 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter concentrically at the cone centre, maintaining point source coherence. The crossover sits at 1.8kHz with bi-wired passive low loss topology and Deep Cryogenic Treatment.
Birch Ply Cabinet and Gold Terminals
The cabinet is high-density birch ply — rather than the HDF of the standard Vintage Classic models. Birch ply is stiffer and better damped than MDF at equivalent panel thickness, producing an enclosure with less resonant colouration. The cabinet uses twin cavity BassTrax loading firing downward. Gold-plated ETI terminals replace the standard WBT posts, and an adjustable bi-wired passive crossover includes HF energy and Presence controls.
