Fyne Audio F501SP Bespoke RAL Classic Colour Finish

The Fyne Audio F501SP is a 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker from the Special Production range — a UK-exclusive model that takes the F501's mid-size floorstanding format and applies a comprehensive set of SP-specific engineering upgrades that place it meaningfully above the standard S Series specification. In its bespoke RAL Classic colour finish, it is available only through selected Fyne Audio dealers, configured to order from the full RAL Classic palette and finished to the same high-gloss standard as the Piano Gloss range. For a customer who wants SP Series engineering in a mid-size floorstander, and wants the speaker to belong in their room rather than merely occupy it, the F501SP in bespoke RAL finish is the most considered configuration available.

The SP treatment here is substantive. The IsoFlare driver is a 150mm SP-specific unit — a multi-fibre cone with FyneFlute surround and a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter — and the crossover integrates the drivers more precisely within the existing cabinet volume using higher-specification components than the standard S Series crossover. The aluminium sandwich plinth improves mechanical stability at the base of the cabinet and refines the BassTrax downward-firing port system. A fifth binding post grounds the driver chassis and reduces RF interference in the circuit. Diamond machine-cut detailing on the aluminium driver chassis and an anodised machined aluminium plinth complete the cosmetic specification — details that reflect the engineering thoroughness of the SP approach rather than decoration applied to a standard product.

SP IsoFlare Driver Technology

The IsoFlare driver combines the bass/midrange cone and the high-frequency compression tweeter on a shared axis — the tweeter fires from the centre of the cone — so both drivers radiate sound from precisely the same point in space. This point-source geometry produces consistent time alignment across the listening area and off-axis coherence that a conventional separated-driver arrangement cannot replicate, regardless of price. The imaging stability and tonal consistency that result are the qualities that most directly separate the SP Series from the S Series it builds upon.

The SP IsoFlare driver in the F501SP uses a twin-magnet motor system and FyneFlute roll surround. The FyneFlute surround geometry reduces cone resonances at the driver termination — the point where the cone meets the surround — which affects transient accuracy and midrange clarity in ways that are audible on complex musical material at realistic listening levels. A second 150mm bass driver handles the frequencies below 250Hz, leaving the IsoFlare unit to operate across the midrange and treble where its point-source geometry is most consequential.

BassTrax Tractrix Diffuser and Aluminium Sandwich Plinth

The downfiring port exits through an aluminium sandwich plinth incorporating Fyne's BassTrax Tractrix profile bass diffuser. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expansion angle as bass energy leaves the port, reducing reflections and smoothing the transition between port output and room. The aluminium sandwich construction adds mechanical rigidity at the base of the cabinet — reducing energy storage in the base structure and improving the definition and articulation of bass frequencies in a way that a conventional MDF plinth cannot achieve. It is the same engineering principle applied in the F704SP's flagship aluminium plinth, applied here in the F501SP's mid-size format.

Upgraded Crossover and Fifth Terminal

The SP crossover integrates the drivers more precisely within the existing cabinet volume, using higher-specification components than the standard S Series crossover. The fifth terminal on the connection panel grounds the driver chassis directly, reducing RF interference in the circuit — a detail that becomes audible as a quieter, lower-noise background against which fine musical detail emerges more clearly. The bi-wire connection panel provides two pairs of terminals for those who want to run separate amplification for the bass and mid/treble sections.

The RAL Classic Colour Process

RAL Classic is the internationally recognised colour standard used across architecture, product design, and industrial finishing. The F501SP bespoke finish applies the full RAL Classic palette — several hundred defined colours — to the same high-gloss cabinet finishing process as the Piano Gloss standard range. The result is a speaker that can be specified to match a paint colour, a piece of furniture, or an architectural finish with a precision that no standard manufacturer colour range can provide.

Lead times for bespoke colour finishes are longer than standard stock items. We can show RAL Classic colour swatches in our Norwich showroom and discuss how different colours read under different lighting conditions — an important consideration when choosing a finish for a domestic installation, where the light changes across the day and between artificial and natural sources. We work with you through the full process, from initial colour selection to final specification.

Who Is It For?

The F501SP in bespoke RAL finish is for the buyer who wants SP Series engineering — upgraded IsoFlare driver, refined crossover, aluminium sandwich plinth — in a mid-size floorstanding cabinet, finished in a colour that integrates with their interior rather than contrasting with it. It suits a listener with a small to medium room who wants a genuine SP-engineered floorstander without the physical scale and price commitment of the F502SP or F704SP.

For context within the SP range: the F500SP Bespoke RAL Classic Colour is the SP Series standmount in bespoke RAL finish — sharing the same SP IsoFlare driver in a compact two-way enclosure. The F704SP is the flagship SP floorstander with twin 300mm drivers and F1 Series crossover technology. The SuperTrax is a natural high-frequency complement to any SP Series system, and the F1-8s is the entry point into the F1 Series for those whose ambitions extend beyond the SP range.
