Fyne Audio F502SP Floorstanding Speaker
The F502SP is the flagship of Fyne Audio's F500 Special Production series — a UK-built 2.5-way floorstander built around a 200mm IsoFlare point-source driver, a dedicated 200mm bass driver, a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter with HF waveguide pole piece, and a downfiring BassTrax Tractrix port with twin-cavity loading and aluminium sandwich plinth. Sensitivity is 92dB, frequency response extends to 30Hz, and the recommended amplifier power range of 30–200W RMS makes it practical across a wide range of systems. The F500 SP concept is straightforward: take the driver and cabinet engineering developed for Fyne's higher series and apply it within the more accessible F500 cabinet format. The F502SP is the fullest expression of that approach — a speaker that punches considerably above its price point and its compact dimensions.
IsoFlare Driver Technology
The IsoFlare driver combines the bass/midrange cone and the high-frequency compression tweeter on a shared axis, so both drivers radiate sound from the same point in space. This point-source geometry gives consistent time alignment across the listening area and substantially better off-axis coherence than a conventional two-driver arrangement — imaging that stays precise whether you are sitting centrally or to the side of the room.
In the F502SP, the IsoFlare uses a 200mm multi-fibre cone with FyneFlute surround paired with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter. Magnesium is stiffer and lighter than titanium, which reduces distortion and extends high-frequency performance. A unique HF waveguide pole piece is integrated into the tweeter assembly to optimise dispersion from the compression driver. The dedicated 200mm bass driver below shares the same multi-fibre cone construction and FyneFlute surround, forming a 2.5-way configuration that extends low-frequency output and reduces distortion under sustained demand.
BassTrax and Twin-Cavity Loading
The F502SP's downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into an aluminium sandwich plinth. The Tractrix profile smooths the transition between port output and room, reducing bass colouration and making placement less critical than a conventional rear-ported design. The twin-cavity loading for the bass section gives the drivers additional acoustic control at the lowest frequencies, contributing directly to the 30Hz extension — the deepest in the F500 SP range and a genuine advantage over the F501SP in larger rooms.
Crossover and Connections
The crossover divides at 250Hz and 1.7kHz — a 2.5-way passive low-loss bi-wired design with Cryo-Lite treatment. The connection panel includes a fifth terminal to earth the driver chassis, eliminating RF interference from the amplifier or cables.

Who Is It For?
The F502SP suits a listener who wants the full SP series experience in a larger room — the 200mm IsoFlare and 92dB sensitivity give it headroom and weight that the F501SP and F500SP cannot match at volume. The 30Hz extension means it handles the lowest musical bass without a subwoofer in most rooms, and it accepts up to 200W, so it pairs well with more powerful amplification. Those stepping up within the SP range should compare with the F701SP to understand what the F700 series cabinet adds at the next price point.
For those whose rooms and budgets extend further, the F702 introduces the full F700 series cabinet engineering, and the F704SP represents the pinnacle of the SP range for a committed long-term system build. The Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter is a worthwhile addition for those seeking extended HF performance from any SP series system.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F502SP is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you. Dave and Chris can advise on system matching, room suitability, and how the F502SP compares with the F501SP or the F700 series above it.
