Fyne Audio F501SP Floorstanding Speaker
The F501SP is the standout model in Fyne Audio's F500SP series — a 2½-way floorstanding speaker built around the IsoFlare point source driver and BassTrax downward-firing port system that define Fyne's approach to speaker design. Where many speakers at this price compromise on cabinet work or crossover quality, the F501SP uses cryo-treated Claritycap components and gold-plated WBT terminals throughout.
IsoFlare Point Source Driver
The IsoFlare driver places a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter at the exact geometric centre of the bass/midrange cone, so both drivers share the same acoustic origin. The result is a point source — no time-alignment errors between tweeter and mid/bass, and a stable, coherent soundstage that holds its shape across a wide listening area. The 150mm multi-fibre bass/midrange cone uses Fyne's FyneFlute roll surround, which reduces harmonic distortion at the surround junction compared to a conventional rubber roll.
BassTrax Tractrix Porting
The BassTrax system fires bass energy downward through a Tractrix-profiled diffuser that sits at floor level. The Tractrix profile reduces port turbulence at high excursions, keeping bass clean and controlled rather than boomy. The F501SP uses a twin cavity loading system alongside the BassTrax port, extending bass response to 36Hz in-room while maintaining definition at low levels.
Crossover and Terminals
The 2½-way crossover crosses the IsoFlare driver at 250Hz and 1.7kHz, with the lower bass cone running below 250Hz to extend low-frequency output and power handling. Crossover components are cryo-treated (Cryo-Lite process) to reduce dielectric and conductor noise. The rear panel carries gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703 terminals with bi-wire capability, and HF energy and Presence trim switches allow ±3dB adjustment of treble character to suit room acoustics.

Who Is It For?
The F501SP suits listeners who want a full-range floorstanding speaker with genuine low-frequency extension in a slim cabinet. The 91dB sensitivity and 8Ω impedance make it an easy load for amplifiers from around 30 watts, so it works well with valve amplifiers as well as solid-state designs. The crossover adjustments are genuinely useful — if your room is bright, dropping the HF trim by 1.5dB makes a real difference without affecting the midrange. The F501SP competes with speakers significantly more expensive and would be our recommendation for anyone budgeting up to £4,000 for a pair of floorstanders.
