Fyne Audio F500SP Standmount Speaker
The Fyne Audio F500SP is the entry point into the Special Production series — and a standmount that makes an unambiguous statement about what driver engineering, crossover precision, and bass loading can achieve in a compact cabinet at this price. Built around a 150mm IsoFlare point-source driver with FyneFlute surround, a downfiring BassTrax Tractrix diffuser, and a Cryo-Lite treated passive crossover, the F500SP reaches 42Hz in-room, carries a sensitivity of 90dB, and accepts amplifier power from 30–120W RMS. The Special Production designation is not a cosmetic distinction — it marks a meaningful engineering step above the standard F500, bringing driver technology, crossover treatment, and bass tuning expertise from the F700 and F1 ranges into the compact F500 cabinet format. Every F500SP is hand-built at Fyne Audio's Scottish factory under the direction of Technical Director Dr Paul Mills, and at this price it occupies a section of the market where driver engineering matters enormously. On that count, the F500SP has a serious and compelling answer.
The Special Production Series
The Special Production designation marks a meaningful engineering step above the standard F500. The F500SP uses the same IsoFlare driver geometry, FyneFlute surround, magnesium dome compression tweeter, BassTrax port system, and Cryo-Lite crossover treatment found in the F700 and F1 series — delivered in the more compact F500 cabinet format. The cabinet finish reflects its position in the range: anodised aluminium plinth, diamond-cut aluminium driver trim, and a deep gloss walnut veneer as one of four standard finish options.
IsoFlare Driver Technology
The 150mm IsoFlare combines the bass/midrange cone and the 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter on a shared acoustic axis — the tweeter fires from the centre of the cone — so both drivers radiate from a single point in space. Time alignment between bass, mid, and treble is consistent across the listening area, and off-axis performance is substantially better than a conventional two-driver arrangement where the tweeter sits physically above the bass/midrange unit. The FyneFlute roll surround reduces cone resonances at the driver termination, improving clarity through the upper bass and lower midrange — a region where the F500SP's coherence sets it apart from conventional standmounts at this price.
BassTrax and Port System
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser built into the anodised aluminium plinth. The Tractrix profile maintains a consistent expanding wavefront as bass energy leaves the port, reducing reflections and smoothing the transition between port output and room. The practical result is a speaker that is less sensitive to floor-boundary effects than a conventional rear-ported design — reaching 42Hz from a cabinet of this size is a direct consequence of this loading approach, and it makes the F500SP meaningfully easier to place than most standmounts at this price point.
Crossover and Connections
The crossover divides at 1.7kHz — a bi-wired passive design with Cryo-Lite treatment applied to the crossover components. The connection panel is a five-terminal design: four for bi-wiring, plus a fifth terminal to earth the driver chassis, eliminating RF interference conducted through the amplifier or cables.
Stands
Fyne Audio make the FS6 stand specifically for the F500SP — a heavy steel and aluminium design, 611mm tall excluding spikes, with a 160 × 230mm top plate that matches the F500SP's footprint. The central column is mass-loadable for additional damping.

Who Is It For?
The F500SP suits the listener who wants a serious standmount — built around genuine driver technology rather than budget compromise — in a room where a floorstander is too large or too much. The 90dB sensitivity and 8Ω impedance make it easy to drive; 30 watts is sufficient for a smaller room, and the 120W upper limit gives headroom for more powerful amplification. The BassTrax system makes it less fussy about placement than most standmounts at this size — a real practical advantage in a living room. It is the natural entry point into Fyne Audio's SP range for a buyer who wants to understand what IsoFlare technology sounds like before considering the Fyne Audio F501SP floorstander or the Fyne Audio F704SP above it. The Fyne Audio F5S offers an alternative at a lower price point, and extended HF performance can be added to any SP series system with the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The F500SP is available to hear in our Norwich showroom — call ahead and we will have it set up for you. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on stand matching, system pairing, and whether the F500SP or a Fyne Audio floorstander is the right fit for your room.
