Fyne Audio Classic Gold XV SP
The Fyne Audio Classic Gold XV SP is the largest and most ambitious expression of the Classic Gold series — a heritage-influenced floorstanding loudspeaker built around a 380mm IsoFlare point-source driver with a 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter, housed in a high-density birch ply cabinet with extensive internal bracing. Sensitivity reaches 97dB, frequency response extends to 23Hz, and the 20–400W amplifier range makes it compatible with everything from low-powered single-ended triode amplifiers to the most powerful solid-state designs available. The Classic Gold XV SP draws on the aesthetic traditions of classic British loudspeaker design whilst applying Fyne Audio's current driver, port, and crossover engineering — and at this scale, with this specification, it sits in a very small group of loudspeakers capable of what it does at anywhere near this price.
IsoFlare Driver — 380mm
The 380mm IsoFlare is the largest point-source driver that Fyne Audio produce, shared with the Vintage Fifteen. At this diameter, the cone moves exceptional volumes of air with minimal effort — which is the foundation of 97dB sensitivity alongside 23Hz bass extension. The multi-fibre cone and 75mm titanium dome compression tweeter share a single acoustic axis, the tweeter firing from the centre of the cone, so both drivers radiate from exactly the same point in space. The result is consistent time alignment across the full frequency range and isotropic dispersion — sound radiating evenly in all directions — rather than the high-frequency beaming of a conventional separated-driver arrangement. The crossover divides at 750Hz, giving the IsoFlare unit a wide operating range that a driver of this size and mass handles with complete composure.
BassTrax and Twin-Cavity Loading
The downfiring port connects to a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser at the base of the cabinet. The Tractrix profile smooths the transition between port output and room, reducing port colouration and managing floor-boundary reflections with a precision that conventional rear-ported designs cannot replicate. Twin-cavity loading within the cabinet gives the bass section additional acoustic control below the port frequency — the structural foundation of the 23Hz extension that makes the Classic Gold XV SP genuinely full-range without subwoofer augmentation.
Crossover
The crossover divides at 750Hz — 2nd order low-pass on the bass/midrange, 2nd order high-pass on the tweeter — a bi-wired passive low-loss design with Full Cryogenic Treatment applied to all components. System adjustments for high-frequency energy (750Hz–26kHz, ±3dB) and presence (2.5kHz–5kHz, ±3dB) are available on the rear panel, allowing independent tonal fine-tuning to room acoustics and partnering equipment.
Cabinet Construction
The cabinet is high-density birch ply with extensive internal bracing — a more rigid and better-damped structure than MDF at equivalent thickness, and a material with a long history in high-performance loudspeaker construction. The Classic Gold XV SP sits on its own integral base, which houses the BassTrax diffuser. The Walnut finish is consistent with the heritage aesthetic of the Classic Gold series.

Who Is It For?
The Classic Gold XV SP is for the listener with a large room and a serious system who values the heritage aesthetic of classic British loudspeaker design alongside current driver and crossover engineering. At 97dB, a 20-watt single-ended triode amplifier drives it to levels that fill a substantial room — and the 400W upper limit gives high-powered solid-state amplification complete headroom. The 23Hz bass extension covers the full range of recorded music without subwoofer augmentation.
Those deciding between the Classic Gold XV SP and the Fyne Audio Vintage Fifteen should audition both — the two speakers share the same 380mm IsoFlare driver but differ in cabinet construction and the finishing details of the Classic Gold series aesthetic. The Fyne Audio F704SP is the natural comparison within the SP range for those who prefer the F700 series cabinet format, and the Fyne Audio SuperTrax super tweeter extends HF performance further for those who wish to push the Classic Gold XV SP's bandwidth.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind. The Classic Gold XV SP is available to audition at our Norwich showroom — at this level a demonstration is not optional, and we ask that you call ahead so we can give it the time it deserves. When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on amplifier matching, room requirements, and how the Classic Gold XV SP compares with other large-format Fyne Audio designs.
