What a Ground Box Does
Noise in a hi-fi system doesn't only travel through the signal path. It accumulates in the chassis and ground lines of components, and conventional mains earthing does little to drain it effectively. Entreq's approach is to provide an alternative, low-impedance path to a carefully constructed passive sink — a box packed with a proprietary mineral mix, copper, aluminium and oak — that absorbs and dissipates that noise without introducing anything back into the system.
The Micro uses the Primer box as its model: a single-cell design with one 3.5mm jack inlet, intended for desktop setups, entry-level systems, monitors, and televisions. It is honest about what it is — a starting point, not a whole-system solution. Connect it to one component, and let it do its work quietly.
Materials and Construction
Entreq build their ground boxes from oak, a mineral mix, copper and aluminium. These are not arbitrary choices — each material is selected for its specific properties in absorbing and dissipating electrical noise. The Micro is compact and unobtrusive: 170mm long, 70mm wide, 70mm tall, and weighing 1kg. It will sit discreetly on a desktop or equipment shelf without demanding attention.

Who Is It For?
The Micro Ground Box suits anyone running a desktop system, a compact stereo, or a television setup who wants to explore what passive grounding can do without a significant outlay. It connects to one component — a DAC, a streaming device, a television — and works most effectively on components up to 6kg. If you are already committed to Entreq's approach and want to ground a full system, the Entreq Pluton or Entreq Protectus will serve you better. But as an introduction to what Entreq do, the Micro is the right place to start.
It is worth noting that no Entreq ground box replaces protective mains earthing. They work alongside your existing earth, not instead of it.
