The Entreq Macro Ground Box is a grounding device designed to drain noise and interference from audio components, lowering the electrical noise floor of a system and allowing low-level musical detail to emerge more clearly. This ex-demonstration unit comes complete with a 1.1M dedicated Entreq ground cable and RCA adaptor, ready to connect directly into a spare RCA input on your amplifier or preamplifier.
What Grounding Does — and Why It Matters
Every component in a hi-fi system carries a degree of electrical noise — interference generated by power supplies, digital circuits, and the mains itself. Conventional methods of managing this, such as star-earthing or mains conditioning, address part of the problem. Entreq's approach is different: the Macro Ground Box provides a dedicated low-impedance path for this noise to drain away from your components into the box's internal compound, which absorbs and dissipates it.
The effect, in our experience, is not subtle. Connected to a spare RCA input — or to the chassis earth of an amplifier — the Macro Ground Box can bring a quieter, darker background to the presentation. Instruments that previously blurred at the edges become more distinct. Timing and low-level dynamics, the qualities that give a recording its sense of life and forward momentum, become easier to follow. It is the kind of change that is immediately apparent when you remove the box from the system.
The Macro in the Entreq Range
Entreq produce a range of ground boxes, from entry-level units to their flagship models. The Macro sits in the middle of the range and uses a larger quantity of Entreq's proprietary internal mineral compound than the smaller boxes, which means a greater capacity to drain and absorb noise. The dedicated 1.1M ground cable included with this unit — terminated with a 3.5mm jack and RCA click-on adaptor — is optimised specifically for use with Entreq ground boxes and is not an afterthought. The cable is part of the system.
The Macro Ground Box connects to one component at a time and works most effectively when grounding a single unit with a total weight of up to 10kg. This is a guide rather than a hard limit — Entreq note it will still have a positive effect on larger components. For negative speaker grounding, the Macro Twin Kit is the appropriate choice.
Important: Entreq ground boxes are not a replacement for protective grounding and must not be used as such.

Who Is It For?
The Entreq Macro Ground Box is for listeners who have already addressed the obvious variables in their system — cables, supports, mains — and want to go further. It suits anyone running a source-heavy system with multiple components sharing a common earth, or anyone who has noticed that their system sounds better late at night when the mains is quieter. It is not a tone control and it does not add warmth or brightness. What it does is remove something: noise. Whether that makes a meaningful difference in your system depends on how much noise your system is carrying. In our experience, it almost always does.
Buying from Martins Hi-Fi
Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.
We have used Entreq ground boxes in our demonstration rooms for a number of years and can show you exactly what this unit does in the context of a real system. If you are sceptical, that is entirely reasonable — come and hear it first.
When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on this product and your whole system.
