Entreq Cleanus Tungsten

The Cleanus Tungsten is a passive mains filter from Entreq, sitting at the heart of the Cleanus range. More precisely described as a high-frequency separator, it draws contamination away from your mains supply before it reaches your audio components — without imposing any dynamic constraints on your system. All necessary cables for connecting to your system are included.

The Problem With Modern Mains

Most of us know when something isn't right with a system. A slight hardness to vocals. A sense of compression during complex passages. A presentation that feels flatter or less open than it should. These symptoms are routinely attributed to components, cables or room acoustics — but frequently the culprit is more fundamental: the quality of the mains supply itself.

The modern home is not a kind environment for sensitive audio equipment. Every LED dimmer, smart device, router, charger and appliance with a switching power supply injects high-frequency interference back into the mains. The cumulative effect is a raised noise floor that sits beneath your music, masking the fine detail and spatial cues that distinguish a good system from a great one.

Tungsten Inside Technology

The Cleanus Tungsten incorporates Entreq's Tungsten Inside technology. It connects to a spare mains socket via an Entreq power cable and works entirely passively, drawing high-frequency interference away from your supply and absorbing it into Entreq's mineral mix. Nothing is compressed, nothing is constrained. The noise simply has somewhere else to go.

This is a fundamentally different approach to conventional active mains filters and conditioners, which work by restricting what passes through them. The trade-off with active filtering is often audible — reduced dynamics, a loss of life, a sense that the system is being held back even as the background becomes quieter. The Cleanus Tungsten removes noise without touching the energy your components need. The music retains its full dynamic range and natural flow, but against a noticeably darker, cleaner background.

Grounding the Cleanus

The Cleanus Tungsten features a copper binding post, allowing it to be connected to an Entreq ground box via an Eartha ground cable. This grounds the Cleanus itself, giving the absorbed interference an additional path to dissipate. Connecting the Cleanus Tungsten to a Silver Tellus Tungsten or Olympus 10 T ground box will deliver a further step forward — a worthwhile addition for systems already benefiting from Entreq grounding elsewhere.

Where It Fits in the Range

The choice between Cleanus models is not primarily about the quality of your audio system — it is about the severity of the interference in your mains supply. The Cleanus Tungsten addresses moderate to significant mains contamination, and for many systems it represents the right balance: enough capacity to make a substantial difference where mains quality is a known concern, without stepping up to the Olympus tier. We are happy to advise on which model is the correct match for your situation.

Who Is It For?

The Cleanus Tungsten is for anyone who has invested in a capable system and suspects — or knows — that their mains environment is working against it. It will be of particular interest to those already using Entreq ground boxes, where adding a Cleanus Tungsten completes a coherent approach to noise management across the whole system. It is not a product you need to take on faith — the difference it makes in a well-resolving system is not subtle.

Buying from Martins Hi-Fi

Martins Hi-Fi has been in Norwich since 1968. Elizabeth Gould runs the business today, and we stock only brands we have heard properly and stand behind.

We can demonstrate the Cleanus Tungsten at our Norwich showroom, where you can hear what a difference passive mains filtering makes in a real system context.

When you get in touch, you'll be speaking with Dave, Chris and Tim — experienced specialists who can advise on the Cleanus Tungsten and how it fits within your whole system.
