The Cyrus 40 PSU is a dedicated external power supply unit built exclusively for the Cyrus 40 Series. At this level, separating the power supply from the signal circuitry is not a luxury — it is the logical conclusion of serious audio engineering, and the 40 PSU exists to deliver exactly that.

Why an External Power Supply Matters

In any audio component, the power supply and signal circuitry share an enclosure and, to varying degrees, the same electrical environment. Noise generated during power conversion — switching transients, ripple, and electromagnetic interference — can find its way into the signal path, raising the noise floor and obscuring low-level detail. Cyrus have addressed this for decades through careful internal power supply design, but the most effective solution is physical separation. The 40 PSU moves power conversion into a dedicated chassis, leaving the host component free to focus entirely on signal processing.

Design and Build

The 40 PSU shares the same full-width machined aluminium casework as the rest of the 40 Series, sitting flush in a rack or stack without compromise. There are no controls on the fascia because there is nothing to adjust. It does one job and does it without distraction.
