Bowers & Wilkins CT8.2 LCR

The Bowers & Wilkins CT8.2 LCR is a three-way in-wall loudspeaker from the Custom Theatre 800 Series — a loudspeaker that brings the engineering principles of the 800 Series Diamond to a fully flush-mounted installation format, delivering a level of performance that redefines what a custom installation speaker can achieve. Designed to function equally as a left, centre, or right channel in a high-end home cinema system, the CT8.2 LCR makes no compromise in driver technology or acoustic engineering simply because it disappears into the wall — every element of its design is directed towards retrieving the maximum possible resolution, dynamic range, and tonal accuracy from the source material. Martins Hi-Fi is the second oldest Bowers & Wilkins dealer in the world, and the CT8.2 LCR is a loudspeaker we install and recommend with complete confidence.

Nautilus Tube-Loaded Tweeter

The CT8.2 LCR's tweeter is loaded by a Nautilus-derived tube — a tapered tube behind the tweeter that absorbs rearward radiation and eliminates the back-wave reflections that colour the high-frequency output of conventionally mounted drive units. The Nautilus tube-loading system is one of Bowers & Wilkins' most significant acoustic engineering contributions, and its presence in the CT8.2 LCR ensures that the tweeter operates in conditions of exceptional freedom — resolving high-frequency detail with a purity and composure that flush-mounted speakers have never previously achieved.

Continuum FST Midrange Driver

The CT8.2 LCR's midrange driver employs Bowers & Wilkins' Continuum cone in a Fixed Suspension Transducer mounting — the same fundamental midrange technology as the 800 Series Diamond and 700 Series S3 floorstanders, applied here without compromise to the demands of a custom installation format. The Continuum FST eliminates the characteristic break-up colouration of conventional synthetic cone materials across the frequencies where the human ear is most sensitive, and the FST mounting removes the foam surround entirely — delivering midrange transparency and vocal intelligibility of a standard that in-wall loudspeakers have previously been unable to approach.

Aerofoil Bass Drivers

Twin Aerofoil Profile bass drivers provide the CT8.2 LCR's low-frequency foundation — each cone engineered with variable thickness across its profile to deliver exceptional stiffness and rigidity without the mass penalty of a conventionally braced driver. The Aerofoil cones operate in a mechanically optimised in-wall enclosure, producing bass that is extended, articulate, and tonally accurate — performance that belies the CT8.2 LCR's flush-mounted format entirely.

Who Is It For?

The CT8.2 LCR is for those designing a custom home cinema system of the highest ambition — where flush-mounted installation is a requirement but performance cannot be compromised. It pairs naturally with the Bowers & Wilkins DB2D or DB1D subwoofer and with the CT8 CC centre channel for a fully matched Custom Theatre 800 Series system.
