Acustica Applicata Volcano

The Volcano is Acustica Applicata's flagship room acoustic resonator — a Helmholtz-type device designed to address low-frequency room modes and improve the overall dimensionality of a listening space. It works passively, requiring no power, and is tunable to target the specific resonance frequencies that are causing problems in your room.

How It Works

Every listening room has its own acoustic fingerprint. Bass frequencies in particular build up at room boundaries and between parallel surfaces, creating modes — peaks and nulls in the frequency response that no amount of amplifier or speaker adjustment can fix. The Volcano tackles this at source by absorbing the energy at those problem frequencies rather than attempting to equalise around them.

Its adjustable aperture allows you to tune the resonant frequency of the device to match your room's specific issues. This is not a broadband absorber; it is a precision tool, and the tuning process is part of what makes it effective.

Construction and Finish

The Volcano is a substantial piece — 102cm tall with a 38cm diameter — and is built to the same standard of fit and finish you would expect from a serious Italian audio manufacturer. It is available in wood, Anthracite Black, and White High Gloss finishes, and can be expanded with an optional Plexiglas module to extend its effective range further into the low frequencies.

The standard configuration consists of two parts. The optional additional module adds 42.5cm to the height and pushes the operating range lower.

Who Is It For?

The Volcano is for serious listeners who have already invested in good equipment and are finding that the room itself is the limiting factor. If you have dealt with electronics and cables and still find the bass is ill-defined, or the soundstage lacks depth and stability, room acoustics are almost certainly the issue — and the Volcano is one of the most effective passive solutions available.

It pairs naturally with other Acustica Applicata devices. The DaaD 2, DaaD 3, and DaaD 4 handle different frequency ranges and room positions, and a considered combination of devices will address your room far more completely than any single product can.
